Default Least "smokey" cast bullet?

I found that the lube which Oregon Silver Lasercast Co. uses "smoke" less than most other brands which I tried over the years. Your experiences not including coated bullets?

Try some of the new Powder Coated or PC boolits offered by casters..

They don't smoke l am told... l personally prefer a bit of smoke. lt lets

me know the lube is working. l make my own lube from a formula called

''Bens Red''.. l dubbed mine 'Scented Boolits' because l enhanced it with

a generous squirt of candle scent l got from a candle maker friend..

My scented boolits get a pleasent response response from others on the

shooting line.. Esp @ Shooters:-)

SW282.....Me too....That lube star on the barrel crown lets you know its working too......My lube is made from commode seal wax and of late mixed with scented candle wax......as SW282 said...........They smell good when you size "em" and when you shoot "em".....This concoction works well in everything handgun and 45/70-444-30/30 & 30/06...

I liked lasercast bullets, which were said to even contain some silver, in them.

With lead bullets it comes down to three things for me.

1. The amount of smoke that you will put up with...

2. The lowest price for your bullets, for some.......

3. Quality bullets that are better than the rest, for your needs.

I got 2 out of 3, with the silver bullet in my 38/357 loadings.

So far in my 35+ years of re-loading I've yet to find a lubed cast lead bullet that doesn't smoke quite a bit. I've not tried the powder coated bullets yet, and I do not cast my own bullets, so I am reliant on what bullet casting Company's produce.

Years ago I did try Oregon Lasercast and honestly don't remember if they smoked much less than everyone else's but I remember they're about double the cost. I belong to two indoor Ranges and one Outdoor range and TRY LIKE HELL to mostly go to the Outdoor facility where I don't really mind the smoke. One of the indoor facilities has a great air moving system and the smoke is not much of an issue either, however the third Range (indoors) is pretty rough to shoot more than a .22. which is primarily what I shoot when I visit that particular Range.

From the commercial cast bullet supplies I see blue lube and red lube.

The 240gr SWC 44 caliber bullets I buy have the blue lube and cost 7.7 cents each after shipping added.
There's the same amount of smoke as from similar bullets that cost almost twice as much.
I've never experienced too much smoke from my hand loads.
Shooting indoors you may tend to notice the smoke more depending on the ability of the range's ventilation system.
Outdoors it's a non issue for me.

For smokeless loads, I've been using Lyman Ideal in pistols and Alox in rifles. However, since I shoot most of my cast bullets in black powder cartridges. The lube doesn't seem to make much of difference one way or the other.
