Jacketed bullets are more likely to get stuck in the barrel using light loads. Wadcutters are typically used for light loads.
What weight are you looking for? Do you have load data for these jacketed wadcutters? I've seen smaller wadcutter's out there but they're always lead. Why not lead?

How about 130gr FMJ if all you want is a lighter FMJ bullet?

You actually can turn a fmj round nose around and shoot it like a wad cutter seated flush with ok results. It is not as accurate but not that bad.

Hi Guy
The jacked w/cutter is clearer thru the barrel. As for as GRAIN capacity is concern anything lower than 148gr.
These loads will be used only 4 target shooting.
Thanks 4 your question.
GOD BLESS

148 IS the weight for target shooting. In Carson City is Xtreme who makes plated wadcutters. At target velocities, plated will work fine.

You might go on line and look up 38 coated bullets.
they come in 100, 105 and 125gr FP designs as well as
a round nose if that is better, for your needs.
They work slow and fast.

I have to admit that just trying to read portions of this thread has been an entertaining exercise. I wonder if it was composed on a touch screen with Crayolas?
I needed some comic relief. It's like a Norm Crosby rerun!

What part are you having an issue understanding? The 148 WC bullet has been the standard TARGET bullet for eons; and loaded with a light charge if Bullseye is very mild, accurate and fun t shoot.

I've shot a lot of 148 grain wad cutters, never any leading of the barrel.

Some casting outfits make...
.... coated lighter weight wadcutters. They can be pushed to high velocities. Xtreme makes heavy plated semi wadcutters.

Bayou Bullets makes a 138 gr. wadcutter that is very accurate. It's polymer coated. No leading, very low smoke. I run them about 920 fps., getting 1.5" groups at 50 yards out of a Ransom rest.

Nevada's bullet maker in Carson City only does the 148gr plated
as its smallest, plated 38 bullet.
You will have to shoot lead bullets if you want lighter weights from
this Nevada dealer !!
They might make a "Custom" bullet for you............ ?
Send a e-mail to Xtreme bullets and see what happens.

Matt's Bullets casts several under-148-grain wadcutters.
Nicknamed "flying ashtrays".
Off topic, I have seen a 148 grain wadcutter for the .44. Looked like a flying Necco Wafer.

I'm not sure why you want a lighter bullet than the standard 148gr wadcutter but it is your ammo.
If you don't want to shoot lead I highly recommend coated bullets. No lead and no lube makes them very clean. They also cost little more than uncoated lead bullets.
