Default 147 grain 9mm FMJ RN

Will 147 grain ammo with 850 fps muzzle velocity consistently cycle through a compact (3.1" barrel) M&P Shield.

I would not want to bet my life on it without test firing it first.

With ANY semi-auto pistol/ammunition combination, you must ALWAYS test them out to know for sure.

Two of the same model of firearm might react differently even though you are using the same ammunition in both

Default Testing needed

I've used 147 grain factory loads and Rainier handholds in a short-barreled Glock 26 without issue. But, you raise a good point: barrels can be whittled to the point of compromising what a bullet is supposed to do.

It will function in "My" C9 pistol but...........

in a Khar 3", they would not feed properly.
Might have been the magazine, ramp or bullet design or even the energy of the load?

One reason to fire at least 100 rounds in your weapon to see if it is
............... Reliable.

My Shield has just under 1000 rounds through it without a malfunction. I'm guessing close to 100 rounds of Speer Gold Dot 147gr, and the rest Speer Lawman 147gr. So, yeah...

As a note on fps...

In my 3.5" C9 9mm pistol, a Speer 147gr TMJ at just 835fps
is my most accurate light target load.

850fps out of a shorter 3" barrel should work just fine.

Blazer ammo ?
