Default 686 plus after tulammo .357

Hello All,
I just bought a 686 plus 3in and took it to the range with tulammo .38 special and .357. Big Mistake --- I know after reading a couple other threads.

Anyway, after shooting about 50 .38's, I tried the .357 tulammo. I only shot a couple of them total. All of the problems that have already been mentioned about tulammo .357 in a smith revolver happened and the gun simply stopped working altogether. A couple things that happened initially:

1) Casings stuck. Had to punch ejector rod to remove them. Luckily I only shot one .357 at a time.
2) Cylinder would rotate freely when closed.
3) Cylinder would not close all the way

I cut range time short because of these issues -- gun just stopped working.

Now, the cylinder closes fine and locks in place (does not rotate freely), but the gun only cocks and and hammer drops in single action. But when pulling the hammer back, the cylinder does not rotate. Pulling the trigger in double action only moves the hammer a little forward, not backwards as you would expect and the cylinder doesn't rotate at all. In other words, pulling the trigger in double action mode doesn't do anything really.

Thoughts? Can I send this onto to smith for warranty service?

I would contact S&W because it seems the gun had an issue from the factory.

This is my first time doing any reading about Tulammo .357 Magnum ammo but it seems that stuck cases are common.

One suggestion I have for the future, if you are shooting 38 special and 357 magnum cartridges, shoot the 357 magnum cartridges first, then the 38 specials. This will allow for easier ejection of the spent cases.

Give it a good cleaning especially under ejector star and make sure it moves freely and is flush with charge holes.

S&W offers a lifetime warranty to original purchaser.
Did you buy it new? If not, they may still repair it at no charge,
but you need to call them and explain your problem.

I also think look under ejector ratchet, unburned magnum power flake makes it bind right away. Not that big a deal. That gun should have no prob with hot ammo
