Do any other 10mm fans like this load? I know it has a reputation for being a low-power load considering the capabilities of the 10mm cartridge. I certainly would not use this as a hunting/woods type of round, but I find them just about perfect for home defense. Out of my Glock 20, they shoot very well and have low recoil. I understand they expand well, and the 180 grain/1050 fps combo seems to work well in both the .40 and .45, so I just never understand why there seems to be so much disregard for this load. I think loads like this expand the versitiliy of the 10mm, much like .38 and .44 Specials out of a Magnum sixgun.

Unfortunately, when it comes to self-defense loads for the 10mm Automatic, you really don't have much choice these days. The 10mm has followed the road of the 41 Magnum, a niche caliber with most loads now geared towards hunters. I have a 10mm, a Colt Delta Elite Stainless that I bought cheap back in the early 1990's. I found it to be a great platform for building a custom 1911, but in 45 ACP.

If you are looking for factory rounds, Underwood has a wide variety of 10 mm loadings.

And I agree on the Hydra-Shock.

The hydra shock is a poor performer in most calibers. I tested a 45 auto in milk jugs and only one side expanded.

My preference is for full power ammunition when shooting the 10MM Auto cartridge.

That being said, both the Federal HydraShok and the Winchester Silvertip do have good reputations

Major ammunition companies have added just as many offerings. From the watered down stuff to full power.

Federal added full power 10MM Auto 180 JsPs about 3 years ago.
SIG is shipping both FMJ and JHPs loaded to full power as well as a line of P220s to handle them.
Barnes has added their solid copper 155 HPs, though at a wattered down loading. This ammunition has been tested in everything from a 3" Smitha nd Wesson CS10 to the 8.3" MP5/10 SMG and even the 14" barreled T/C
Hornady has continued to develop the 10MM Auto as part of their Custom offerings. While not at the cutting edge of full power they offer much more than some of the 40S&W lever ammunition on the market
Mike McNett at DoubleTapp has always been a HUGE supporter in the area of 10MM Auto ammunition development. For blasting to personal defense to hunting ammunition
Myself, I have been working on 240 grain JSP ammunition for the aging FBI MP5/10s and the direct impingement, integrally suppressed carbine that is looking to replace it.
The 41 Magnum has never enjoyed such a growth period in either firearms or ammunition.

About the only folks not on the 10MM Auto bandwagon these days is Smith and Wesson

I do love Underwood as well. They offer a great selection of powerful 10mm loads, and are my go to company for good woods carry rounds, along with Buffalo Bore. For some reason Winchester cannot seem to make up their mind about Silvertips - sometimes they make them and other times they are never to be found. I miss the Silvertip .357 Magnum load! But I really like those mild Hyrda-Shoks for nightstand duty, for the same reason I never really loaded Federal 357B rounds when my Model 19 served as the nightstand gun.

That is beautiful pair of tens. Ever since reading Tom Clancy books, I loved the MP-5/10mm. Of course, in his books the guys had matching 10mm Berettas. I was very disappointed when I found out that Beretta did not actually make a 10mm 92 or Cougar. Also, I'd love to see S&W make tens again. M&P 10mm, 1911 or just bring back the 1000 and 4500 series!

I ordered 4 different flavors of 10mm for testing. Especially interested in the 200 gr flat nose cast load for carry in bear country in my 220.

I think 10mm factory offerings are looking up. The SIG ammo is loaded up to full power specs. Shot some of the 180 gr HP's and they were full power.

Like the .41 mag the 10mm is a bit of a handloaders cartridge.

I carried Hydra shoes for years, now I carry silver tips and Barnes when carrying factory ammo, simply because I bought a bunch of those rounds years ago......as already mentioned in previous posts, the 10mm loads have seen a huge increase in recent years. I tend to favor full throttle loads, so my edc load nowadays in my G 20 is a 200 gr XTP @ 1200 fps, which is one of handloads.
