Just placed an order with BB on some 9mm 115 +p+ JHP and some 380 +p hardcast ammo. Really looking forward to shooting these and if pleased will carry the 380 in my Custom LCP and the 9s in my CZ.

Anyone using these? Comments?

That will be hot stuff, probably not meant for routine range use.

It's for killing things and occasional familiarity use. I'd especially avoid heavy use in the Browning Hi-Power and other 9 mm's known to break if fired a lot with hot ammo.

I bet that 9 mm load is a doozy on coyotes. I'd ask Ruger's guidance about using the .380 in their little gun.

What velocity do they list for 9 mm Plus P Plus?

Buffalo Bore is good stuff when it comes to hot loads. I have two .38 J frames, one alloy other steel. I had to put a Hogue monogrip on the alloy one because it was NO FUN AT ALL to shoot. The steel gun was tolerable. I'd like to know how a .380 reacts to hot ammo. I generally make my own ammo to keep from having to pay premium dollar, for hot loads especially.

while generally not a fan of 115gr 9mm, BB makes a spicy load for sure. out of a steel CZ it wont be terrible, out of an LCP? whoo doggie, i'll be interested to hear how that goes! my woods gun is a 4" 57 stoked with some Heavy .41 Magnum Ammo - 265 gr. L.W.N. (1,350 fps/M.E. 1,072 ft. lbs.). i'd trust it for just about any threat, man or beast...

I only use Buffalo Bore in two types of guns: a SS Ruger anything, such as the Alaskan, Toklat, and Super Redhawk 454 Casull, and in my Sig Sauer P238 in 380 +P 90 gr.

I’d never use them in a Polymer gun.

The package usually says what guns are allowed. I have Never shot 9 mm +P+.

1,426 out of a 4.6 inch barrel.

Regular loads out of my CZ feel like a pop gun, I don't expect it to be bad. And yes, I'm curious to see what the LCP will be like

I've shot their 180 grain 357s out of a 4 inch and snubbie Ruger. The snubbie is a handful...

I also have some heavy 44 mags ordered for my Alaskan.

Real curious to see how the Ruger reacts. There are good reviews on BBs site from LCP owners and yes I know it's not recommended.

I will say BB has great customer service and very timely answers to emails... and I like that!

Shooting 360 Grain BB from The Alaskan is nice and spicy.

I’ve adapted to the punch from it. I’m sure you will too. It takes 2-3 boxes to do so.

If you can get close to a 4" 1400fps reading on that BB ammo
you will be in the +P+ area.

Underwood is another "Maximum Loading" company for the 9mm
but most will agree that 1350fps is plenty in a 5" and 1220 with 4" weapons
for a 115gr JHP design.

The hot 380 will be interesting.

Yep...they are quoting 1,072 fps out of a 2.75" barrel for the 380.

Here are some numbers for you, R/E the .380 load. A 9.4oz pistol firing a 100 grain bullet at 1072fps with 5 grains of powder has an approx. recoil of 9.9 foot pounds.

For comparison, a .357 mag load of 158 grain bullet at 1200fps fired out of a 2.2lbs revolver with a 13 grain powder charge has an approx. recoil of 9.1 foot pounds. Less than the .380, which can at best be gripped with two fingers.

My LCP, fired with regular WW White Box is pretty "snappy" as it is. Should be interesting....

The 357 I mentioned above that I shot the 180 grain BB out of was a SP-101 snub coming in at 1.6 lbs. So, I have some experience with fun recoil. If the 380s are unpleasant I won't carry it.

I haven't tried any of those loads. But I love their Heavy .44 Special loads. They are ideal in my 24-3 and 69.

If you are looking for a hotter .380ACP load than what is provided by most manufacturers, as I was as a SD round for my new Kimber Micro 380 pocket pistol, consider Underwood's Extreme Penetrator cartridge. It pushes a 90 grain Lehigh Defense solid copper bullet at 1100 fps from (I think I am right on this) a 3.5" barrel. Excellent penetration for a non-hollow point round and a corkscew path thanks to the machined cuts on the flat-faced bullet. There is a very good video on this round at and on the Lehigh Defense version at .

In fact, the guy who did the 380ACP comparison to come up with his top five SD rounds later added the Lehigh Round to the group, making an additional video about it.
I took my new gun to the range today and shot the Underwood alongside some standard FMJ 95 grain stuff from Magtech, and I did not notice any appreciable difference in recoil. (The aluminum frame/stainless steel slide combo on the Kimber, which has a 2.75" barrel, soaked up the recoil well.) You should check out the Underwood. Like the Lehigh Defense, it's pricey (about $1.25 per round) but well worth the cost to have a dependable penetrator from the 380.

I don't think I'd want to fire those much from a Beretta or Browning 9 mm! Nor a P-38. Should be okay for reasonable use in a SIG P-210 or a steel CZ.

Let us know if you shoot a coyote, raccoon, dog, etc. with this ammo. I've never seen a first hand report of BB ammo on live animals.

BB makes great stuff, I carry item 24I every day and trust it with my life.

I shot and shoot several other loads, cartridges and calibers (never +P+ though) and *knocking on wood* never had an issue.

Google cracked LCP frame...hot loads don't play well with the aluminum frame rails on this little pocket pal.

Thanks to all who commented and PM'd me. Well I made it to the range today and ran two mags through my Ruger LCP Custom with the +p loads. But the first thing I did was order a new Wolf 13Lb. spring and install...

Shooting rapid fire at a silhouette, nothing off the target most center mass at 4 yards. Brought to fire from hand and gun rested on lane shelf. Recoil certainly more than my standard carry ball ammo but I had no problem with it. You do feel like it's putting some pretty serious pressures on the gun though. Brought it home cleaned it, everything fine. I will say it shot dirty though.

I'll carry it in the bottom 4 of my extended mag. Top 3 plus one will be 92 grain ball. If the first 4 don't get bg's attention maybe the next 4 will

Now to the big stuff, I tested my new Alaskan out with a variety of loads from 44 special (felt like buttered popcorn) to the heavy 340 hardcast buffalo bore. The 240 grain Sig Elite Performance shot best point of aim at 10 yards.

The Buffalo Bore 340 hardcast. Wow! I feel real sure you put one or two of these on target and you will stop most anything coming your way. Recoil wasn't as bad as I thought and I've shot some light weight 38 revolvers that hurt my hand.

Anywho, just some thoughts for those who might be interested.

edit: I forgot to add that I shot some BB +p+ 9mm hollow points out of my CZ compact and they were awesome....shot point of aim and recoil very manageable...
