Our own ammo manufacturer?!?!
I got a shock. A friend of mine had told me about an ammo shop in town called Precision One. Ok, it wasn't real near me, so I'd go when I was over that way.
Today we (The Three Stooges) got together and he drove us over there. It was a small warehouse and hardly had a sign so you could tell where the place was. We went in and the place was a tiny, about 12'x12' room, but it was chock full of ammo. The lady, (Brandy) showed us what she had and said, behind this door is the factory... I said, 'WHAT???', you make ammo here. She said they started with a Dillon press in their house and the foyer was the showroom. They had been in business 8 years and bought several Dillons to handle the load. Then they got commercial machines. Their brand is Precision One. They had other ammo but most of it was their's and their's was all in nice boxes or bulk in bags. I didn't really need anything since I reload, but I bought a couple of 'blem' boxes of 9mm. The prices were average but I haven't seen exactly what I bought except it was 115 fmj, but I was IMPRESSED.

I was looking for their .380 ammo years ago, after seeing that they were the best performer in the Ammo Quest from Shooting the Bull 410, but couldn't find them. Stocked up on the 2nd place ammo instead. It's time to restock .380, so I'll try them, since they have a web site now. Precision ONe Ammunition, Dont Shoot Twice Shoot Precision ONe

I've read reviews.....
...from people that really like their products. They have a kind of unique philosophy where they produce ammo that is put together like the 'boutique' ammo but more as standard offerings. I looked all through their little storefront and I was impressed with just how GOOD all their ammo looked. It's like they made one perfect round and ran it through a duplicator.

It's good to see a small ammo manufacturer making it in an industry dominated by Mega-companies.

I’ve talked to them at several shows. Nice people and seem very knowledgeable. I’ve also noticed a few local shops retailing their ammo. Owners say they get great feedback.

Spotty quality and not really cheaper than name brand. Mostly reloads at factory new ammo prices. Bullets usually seated very high.
I started a thread about them here a few years back.
I'll pass on them from here on out.

That's fine, I was just going to say that they aren't 'cheap' ammo, but after shooting them the quality is very good and consistent and they ran through all guns just fine. They seem as good as any name brand ammo. The business has grown and developed in several phases over the last years. The co-owner said her and her husband started out with their home foyer as their 'showroom'. Now they are in a metal building with several commercial loaders, and still use the Dillons for some cartridges. They use all new components. Maybe something changed over the years. At least my present opinion was favorable. Years ago I refused to buy any reloaded or homebuilt ammo because I got burned too many times with really crummy stuff. But in the last 10 years or so some outfits have a really good reputation. I think Freedom Munitions and some other Georgia manufacturer get good marks. Things change. Sometimes for the better.
