Does anyone know a source for 50 round boxes of the Speer 357 Magnum 135 gr. short barrel ammo?
I have no trouble locating 50 rd. boxes of the .38 Special +P rounds, but so far, I have only found 20 round boxes of 357.

I really thought the 135 magnums were only available in the 20round boxes. The 20 round boxes are difficult enough to find.

It's only available in 20 round boxes.

Luckygunner has them in stock. They sure are pricey though.

Captain Obvious says....buy three 20 round boxes. Save the 10 extra rounds .

Next time when you need another 50 , with the 10 extra rounds you can buy two 20 round boxes and you will have 50.

Thank you...I just ordered a couple of boxes from SG Ammo "just to see". Even with shipping, the price is not so much different from the Speer 38 +P I ordered years ago...$14/box, iirc. If I like the round, and it doesn't fly back and shoot my hat off, I'll search for the 50 round boxes, or order several of the 20 rounders.

I would love to order from Lucky Gunner, because their site is very useful, and I would like to support them but...as Dogfish 357 correctly noted, they are pricey! Fixed income, you know!

I have bought 50 round boxes but the last was 2-3 years ago. They are reported to go 2-300 fps faster than the Speer .38 +P so should be manageable out of any steel frame .357, or a heavier alloy gun.

Frustrating. 20-round boxes when you're willing to buy a few hundred rounds, or even a case! 20-round boxes are fine if you only have one EDC in that caliber.

I actually did not mention the SG deal, because you specifically asked for 50 RD boxes. You can buy 500 from them, they'll still come in 20 rd boxes. I use these in my 340 PD.

$64 question: Any crimp jump with this load in the 340PD? I'm looking for a 'safe' load in my 340PD. Thanks in advance.

As you know those super light revolvers are prone to bullet pull but only from a real magnum load with light bullets. The Speed short barrel .357 Magnum ammo is hardly a real magnum load at only 990fps with a 135gr bullet.

Spread was 1008 fps to 1045, avg 1027 fps. After 4 rounds, the 5th round measured about .03" longer, which I considered negligible.

I chronoed some of that load out of a 2.25" SP 101 and it average 1067. Great carry load.

That’s good to know. They’re what I carry in my SP101 but never really knew they could achieve that velocity from the short barrel. I’ve only fired maybe 1 box of them but seemed on par with most 38 +p that I’ve run through it.

Found speer 357 short barrel gold dot on ammo seek for .54 per round. Still box of 20 though.

SGAmmo also has the 50 round 53921, and the price is good, even with shipping!

Sniper, just to clarify, the 53921 is 50 rds of Speer 38 special 135g short barrel.

My three-inch SP should get at least 1100 FPS from it then.

Major Headcheck says the 20 round boxes are about twice as expensive as the 50 round boxes. The 50 round boxes are available as law enforcement surplus at steep discounts.
