If there is an additional discount of $10 on the $49.99 price it might be worthwhile depending on where you live, especially if in a remote area. But I think there may be sales tax on top of that price as Academy is everywhere.
I bought two - 550 round bulk pack boxes (1100 rounds) of the same Federal 36 grain ammo at WalMart last week for $42.40 including sales tax (slightly less than $0.04/round) which is at least as good a price as Academy's $39.99 plus sales tax with free shipping.

I've picked up 6 or 8 of those boxes at a couple local Wal Marts. Hard to beat the price.

Believe my sales tax was like a 1.42. For real, my Walmart has not had .22lr in at least 5-6 years. I'm sure there's some bs going on but that's out of my control. My lgs located about halfway to walmart always has CCI but never anything bulk. And to top it off, my little town has a major WM distribution center. I mostly use CCI Tactical Copper in my 15-22 but use whatever in my other 22s.

Any time you can get name brand .22 for less than 4.5 cents/round, your scoring. You can never have to much .22 on hand either. If in doubt, just think back about 3 years ....

Skeet028 Haven't seen any coupons on this one but it was (is) in the weekly add. I went to the website and looked up the bulk box of 525 of the same round and from what it looks is the 525 rounds cost is $26.99 per box so that would be 53.98 for 2 boxes (1050 rnds) so, the $44.95 for the 1100 rnds would be a good price. Saying that, I did find the Blazer 40 grain LR for $194 per 5,000 Free shippiing and No tax so, for me the Blazer would be a better value ... but, saying that the blazer isn't copper coated..
I have been seeing quite a few "Deals" on .22 lately which is a good thing, but your right Wee Hooker, stocking up with the low prices can never hurt!
With my current order of 5,000 CCI 40gr round on it's way to me that will bring me up over 10,000 rounds... that's going to take a bit of work to burn down :-)

I saw that in their Sunday newspaper flyer also. That is still 4 cents per round + sales tax, same as at Wal-Mart. I'm fairly well stocked up on .22 ammo at present so I doubt I will buy any more. I bought some Federal American Eagle ammo at Academy on sale late last year for $2/box. I thought it was a good deal then, but it wasn't until sometime later that I discovered they were 40 round boxes, not 50 round boxes. It never even occurred to me that they were smaller boxes. I'll know better the next time.

sgammo.com has some brands of .22 LR on sale for less than $20 per
brick of 500 rds. A couple are Winchester 36 gr lead HPs for $17 if you
buy a case and Federal 40 gr Champion for $19. Shipping isn't free but
sg offers lower charges than most net dealers because of the amount
of business they give UPS. Now is a good time to stock up on .22s
because these good times might not last forever.
