Default Fiocchi ammo no good for Governor

I took the Governor out with some new Fiocchi Shotshells the other day, 1 out of every 6 shots had a misfire. After waiting 15 or so seconds to make sure the round wouldn't do a delayed fire, I opened the cylinder to discover that I had had a light primer strike. This had never happened with any of the Winchester shotshells I use on snakes. The 2nd time i tried to fire the ones that had light primer strikes they all went bang. The next day I fired several Federal FMJ in moon clips and all those went bang.

Upon inspecting the Fiocchi ammo comparing it to the other brands of ammo, I discovered the rim of the Fiocchi ammo is BEVELED on the side that sits against the cylinder face. The side the primer is on is squared off. On other brands of ammo i compared it to the rim is squared off on both sides, allowing perfect primer strikes.

Bottom line if you own a Governor, stay away from the Fiocchi shotshells unless you are ok with having frequent misfires.

I believe there have been several threads about lite strikes with Governors.

Sent back to the factory, Smith has installed longer firing pins.

The rims of all shot shells are beveled! That isn't the problem, or even part of it.

I have both Federal and Winchester shotshells here as well as the Fiocchi, and neither of those have such an exaggerated bevel as the Fiocchi.

Today my brother and I each shot a box of the Fiocchi just so we could burn through it and get rid of it, we had several light primer strikes each, as well as the cylinder locking up on us several times. One cylinder I shot I couldn't eject the spent shells out of without hitting the ejector rod against a piece of wood carefully. I have fired lots of Winchester and Federal shotshells as well as .45 acp through this weapon without having ANY of these problems. Bottom line is, this was the 1st and last time I ever by any Fiocchi ammo.

Regarding Fiocchi ammo; I've had several bad experiences with the metallic cartridges. Two squibs with their .38 sp. in less than a year ( different revolvers), and light strikes with their 9mm ( different guns). However, I'm an avid Dove hunter, and have shot hundreds of the light 12 ga. loads ( out of a shotgun). I quit buying Fiocchi handgun ammo

Outside of two dud primers from the same pack of CCIs many years ago (and I did find a loose anvil on my reloading bench afterwards), I've never had any brand of ammo nor brand of primer fail to fire in any firearm I own, including the brand in question. That includes many rounds with obvious "high" seated primers.

I'd question the gun before I question the brand of ammo. Your gun is riding on the marginal edge of reliable.

Fiocchi is the ONLY brand of ammo that won't reliably feed in my Kahr pistol.
