That is a good price. They had them back in early May for the same price. I bought some back then.

That is a great price! Would be all over it if I wasn't already sitting on 500 rounds of the stuff.

Thanks for the heads up. While I still have a decent amount of SB-GDHP on hand, I decided to pick up a couple of boxes. Even with shipping and tax it's noticeably less than the price I paid the last time I ordered them.

How would that ammo work out of a 4” barrel

NYPD issued this ammo to their senior officers who were grandfathered to carry their 4" Mod 10s. That's a valid endorsement for me............

Thanks, I know it’s used by guys in their off duty 2” .38’s. I wasn’t sure if they used it in the 4”

Speer told me I should expect "about 920 fps" from my 4" barrel.

And Speer told me that it works fine from a four-inch barrel, proven by both NYPD and LAPD.
But they suggested that longer barrels should use their Plus P 125 grain bullet, not designed for so much expansion in short barrels.
It's more apt to give optimum expansion and penetration in longer barrels.
I use the 135 grainer in snubs and three inch barrels, and the 125 in longer barrels.
So far, I haven't had to shoot anyone, and am happy to take Speer's word re the relative merits of both loads.

That is "about" 254 foot pounds of energy.
Speer only lists one 135 grain .357" projectile as a reloading component (4014) and publishes both .38 Special and .357 magnum reloading data for that same bullet. Speer lists muzzle velocities from a 2" Model 15 and a 6" Model 14 with the .38 Special data and a 2 1/2" and 6" Model 19 in the .357 data. The velocities listed by Speer for max loads of Unique for .38+P and .357 Magnum closely approximate measured velocities reported for Speer 135 grain gold dot factory ammunition.
I believe Speer uses the same bullets in both the .38+P and .357 magnum short barrel factory ammunition. Speer may have optimized the powder type and charge in the factory ammo for .38 Special short barrel revolvers but the velocity increases with increased barrel length, although not to the point where it matches the velocity of the .357 short loads.
Since the bullet only knows velocity and not barrel length and the bullet holds together at .357 velocities I think anyone can feel good about using the .38+P "short barrel" ammo in any .38 or .357 revolver from 1 7/8" to at least 6".

I'm a Prime Ammo member at TargetSportsUSA. My price on this ammo is $18.39 per 50-round box, with free shipping, no matter the quantity.
When I signed on to the program in November, I decided I would spend a couple hundred bucks a month on factory self-defense ammo to build up a nice stash while prices remain low.
It usually takes about a week to get my order from TargetSportsUSA (not nearly as quick as SGAmmo) but the prices are lower than anywhere else for what they have in stock.

Thanks for the heads up!! Right now it's 19.99 a box...which is $10 cheaper than SG Ammo. I usually buy from SG Ammo, but that's a pretty big price difference. Always like to keep a few boxes of this on hand. I heard that Speer only produces it a couple of times a year...not sure if that's true or not. But it does seem to be pretty scarce sometimes.

Thanks from me also.$19.95 for 50 rounds versus 21.95 for 20 rounds. Definitely a no brainer. only I gun shop in town and they do not stock it. So as they say you have to order out. Frank
