I just tried to find it and was unable to.I have never seen or heard of it before and if the MV is not too much, could be an interesting round to shoot.

Those are 250gr Sierra silhouette bullets its loaded with. Really great bullets.

Sierra also makes a 220gr silh bullet it that same profile. These Sierras

aren't a true FMJ... They have an exposed lead soft point.. Actually a pretty

good hunting bullet on really large game

Tried them today at the range. Really accurate and almost same POI at 50yds as my usual Federal American Eagle 240grJHPs. You certainly know when they go off, lol. 5" 629 I will try them on a deer or hog if the chance arises.

Should be great for an emergency bear gun, with ample penetration. Ditto for Florida people plagued with pythons.Or alligators or crocodiles.

That is really nice and uniform performing ammo OP.

.44Mag is an inherently accurate round so most of the Premier branded stuff is going to do well in most Smith's; the luck of that is on your side!

I've had great accuracy with Federal Fusion 240grain rounds as well as Fiocchi and Prvi Partizan 240 grain ammo. And of course any of the medium-warm loads from Underwood and Buffalo Bore have been stellar. I'm expecting a delivery from Matts-Bullets of their 265 Grain, Gas Checked Keith's that once tailored to it's optimal load should be more accurate than almost any factory load.

I like Matt's Bullets. He helped me with an experiment shooting 135gr 44 bullets. His 250gr HP 44 is my favorite in 44Spl. It has a BIG hole, lol.

So there are some "Crazies" that shoot a full blown 44 Magnum in Matches........ ?? !!

What does that feel like, after the second box of ammo ??

100 rounds of hot 124gr 9mm gives me a workout.

I know this is a late post but this ammo was available in the 80's. It was meant not to expand but expend all its energy into its target; a bowling pin, steel plate, etc.

Because it had an exposed lead tip, it could be used for hunting. I keep it in my revolvers as a bear defense round due to its penetration.

Sorry for the poor photograph. It is a red and white Federal box and the ammo is identified as 44D. This box is not Gold Match.

I think it is actually intended for steel silhouette match shooting, not bowling pins or IDPA, USPSA/IPSC, or bullseye match shooting.

Match ammo?

For ammo to be labeled "Match" we have to know what "match" it is designed for.

I have match ammo for cutting "X's" at 50 yards that would suck at "pins"!

Smiles,

From my understanding at the time, and this was in the 80's when I was working at a chain hunting and fishing store in Culver City, according to the literature it was meant for steel silhouette.

That was going to be my guess. The only “matches” my Model 29 ever participated in were steel silhouette matches. I used my own reloads, of course, but specialized match ammo makes sense.
