Yes we are seeing some great prices of late.
I do not think that we have seen prices like this in a decade or more. I have been stocking up. If the November elections go badly for us, this could change.
Additionally some new sanctions on Russia may be coming. And this would seriously put a hurting on the cheap 7.62X39 coming in.

I do not have 7.62 x 39 gun and I do not buy the Russian 5.56. But if the Russian 5.56 dries up that could lead to higher prices on the same from other countries, including the United States. Although I do not plan on buying .38 Spl or .40 S&W, I did get some 5.56 with 77 gr. Sierra Match King bullets. Note, my State might be putting severe restrictions on online ammo purchases.

Still might be time to keep stocking up. I was half listening to the radio the other day when the term "ammunition control" came up. The word ammunition is NOT in the 2nd amendment. But that would certainly infringe. Nothing becomes law without Trump's signature. But the RINOs worry me. Anyway, my 2 cents.

Yes we have an overstock on ammunition, I have seen CCI Mini-Mags for 5 cents/round with free shipping. 5.56 is $.30/round or less for quality ammo.
I wonder how this will impact the manufacturers? Especially some of the small makers that have popped up over the past few years. Lots of things could impact ammo - tariffs on imports or increased demand on brass and lead for example. But I think if the democrats win big in the mid-terms with the very liberal/socialist candidates they have running gun owners will start getting nervous again. Especially in two more years.
My .02 worth.

Heck at the gun show yesterday I was offered 8 boxes of Remington 38 Sp wad cutter ammo for 60 bucks and I turned it down. If it had been any other type ...may have bought it. There was also 9mm 40 S&W and others for similar prices. I am being selective in my ammo purchases now. Now if I still had a Model 52 maybe. Even once fired brass is going for cheep cheep prices. Only brass I bought was 2 boxes of once fired Winchester 357(for that Win 94 I just bought) at 4 cents each and the price of quality 22s was down to very reasonable prices.

Got explain my previous post...that is cheap 38 ammo. But I bought 4 lbs of Bullseye for 10 dollars a pound 2000 Win SP primers for 15 dollars per M and 2 boxes of 500 158 SWC commercial bullets for 10 bucks a box. With my cases that is under 2 cents a round Heck even my old straight line Mark IV press will turn 'em out quick enough for my purposes. Although...if they are still there today...I may buy them to re-sell. I did miss a good buy on a nice S&W M-18-3 in a pretty little leather holster for 400 bucks. I looked at it and just walked away...duh!

Now is the best time in quite a while to stock up on ammo - low prices, big supplies of just about anything and apparently relatively low demand. Mark my words, at some point in the not-too-distant future the wailing and gnashing of teeth over ammo shortages and price will return, either over a true imbalance over supply and demand or plain rampant hoarding.
Also, wasn't the Federal tax cut intended just for this reason?

I hesitated at first but then went ahead and joined TargetSportsUSA Ammo Prime offer. I've begun stocking up too (which sounds so much better than hoarding), mostly in .22LR and in some new to me calibers I don't load for yet.

Here's my ammo problem: my son & his friend can go through a thousand rounds of ammo between morning and afternoon trout bites with the idea that there's more. How does anyone keep up with that?
Put two kids in the same area code & they can turn texting into competition. Give them guns, ammo, & targets, and there will be competition...and hundreds of empties for me to GPS.

and since I'm a reloader, this is the only factory ammo I'm interested in.
Federal 550's $.037 per round works for me.

The great Ammo Bonanza of 2018?
I am not sure what the driving forces are, but the prices that I am seeing for .45 ACP and 9 mm Luger are excellent. I use PMC and Mag Tech FMJ (range shooter only). I have been buying from SGAmmo. Sam is reporting that PMC either over produced or has an excess supply. Regardless, SGAmmo is offering several specials.
Brownell's is also providing some specials for MagTech that I have not seen in two years. Mag Tech .45 ACP, regularly $18.49/50 now $16.49/50. Had an e-mail coupon on Monday for 10% off. Unless you live in Iowa, no sales taxes. Free shipping. Today only, 10% off for $100.00 orders, $20.00 off for $200.00 orders, and $30.00 off for $300.00 orders.
Not sure again what's driving it, but have also read articles that are anticipating a possible unfavorable outcome for all of us in November.
Bill

AMMO
While I load for all I have .22LR of course I do not. I had, and have enough to get through the last 'shortage' but took a delivery of 3000 36 grain CCI's just today. I am at current checking my inventory for loading supplies and will be filling any holes, if there are any. My 1911 .22 conversion kit requires the use of higher velocity ammo to keep the floating chamber from leading.
