CCI Mini Mags -Bitter sweet sight
It's been nice to be able to find cheap and plentiful CCI Mini Mag .22 again but it's somewhat sad when it's time to break into a fresh case.

No, this is sweet - actually having .22 LR to use and not replacing it at 10 cents per round . Happy shooting!

There are old timers around who can tell you about 22s for 25 cents for a box of 50. Won't be back.

IIRC, I saw some CCI MiniMags on Goingbroker for $25.00 per box of 100 during the peak of the "shortage". I'm glad it's back to "normal." Good Chootin'!!

I'm a "50 cents per box" old-timer. That was the price when I was in college in 1964. On an inflation-adjusted basis, I'm paying about half that now. Same is true of centerfire ammo. These are the good old days for ammunition. Just ask those old-timers what their salary was when .22's were a quarter per box.

Ok, I'm over it now. Just bought another case of CCI Blazers at 3.8 cents a round. Now, that is a price I never thought we'd see again! This is a truly a great country!

Last week I bought 10,500 rds (20x525) of Federal 36 gr HP's for $400. My guns don't know the difference. I coulda got the same ammo in 550 boxes at WallyWorld but we have 7 1/2% sales tax here so the extra 500 rds would be $30. It's nice to have it delivered to my door. I'm an O.F. now and I can remember having brand new guns @ FFL cost delivered to my door for $3 shipping charge. That's way more exotic. Joe

My recently departed father in law (almost 97 YOA) told me often about when if he had a dime, he could buy 20 .22 Shorts or 10 .22 Longs with it. The store keeper would open a box and sell you as many as you had money for. Said one time he only had a nickel and the storekeeper gave him his choice of nine shorts or four longs and one short! Also said in season, he could bring in a gallon of fresh picked blackberries to the storekeeper and he'd give him ten cents credit for them. One season he picked almost enough blackberries at ten cents a gallon to buy a single shot .22LR Winchester rifle from the storekeeper. Said he had made five dollars credit and his dad paid the balance due, which was 25 cents. My wife and I now have that $5.25 rifle. Her dad said he wished he could see all the squirrels he killed with it in SE Missouri back in the thirties. Ah ... the good old days, eh?

Yep. I remember the $.50 per box 22LRs. My Dad taught me shoot with them in a Springfield bolt action he drove tractor for 2 weeks to earn when he was 14. Also remember the first time he bought more than one box at a time. 1968. The GCA had just passed and he scraped together the price of a brick. 4 hours pay. Said "they may get my rifle, but I'll give them all the ammo first". He's gone now, just like $.50 .22s. The rifle still shoots straight.
