357 Sig expanded Federal HSTs
I shot these with my 4.25"-barreled M&P40 with S&W 357SIG barrel, into a series of one-gallon water/milk jugs, from ten feet distance.. On the front of the first jug, I taped my simulation of the FBI's 'thick clothing'--denim front and back with two layers of terrytowel in between.. I know that three shots are a small sample, but the results of the three are virtually identical, so I quit.
Bullet 1 entered the 4th jug but didn't reach its back wall; I'll call that 20" of penetration*. Bullets 2 and 3 each passed thru jug 3 but didn't crack front wall of jug 4; I'll call that 19" of penetration. Minimum weight among the three is c. 121g. which indicates essentially no weight loss.
I'm thrilled with this performance--I've seen many name-brand HP bullets expand not at all after passing thru my thick-clothing tests--and will buy more of these.
My friend, who has assisted me during my last-several expansion tests, said 'WOW--that was no 9mm' after the first shot. The first and 2nd jugs of each shot simply blew up significantly more violently than with any other tested in my memory.
* Each jug is 6" front-to-back, so a bullet entering the 4th jug has achieved more than 18" penetration. And yes, I understand that water is neither ballistic jell nor muscle tissue, but my tests done over about 20 years have produced what appears to me to be consistent results.

A friend of mine is a deputy sheriff. He uses a sig chambered in 357 sig. I will tell about these. He might be interested in them.

A group of us LE instructors tested several different bullets in several calibers a few years back in ballistic gelatin duplicating the FBI protocols.
The HST was an excellent performer in every caliber we tested.
The 357 sig and HST IMO is a perfect marriage of bullet / caliber and velocity.
Nice photo’s.

The 357 SIG is a dead chambering. Just ask any internet guru.
I have 2, though. Just in case. :-)

...and I'm able to make two more out of S&W 40s, with two more S&W barrels.

And now, Remington Golden Saber Bondeds in 357 Sig
Got these at SGAmmo.com for $23.95 per 50box plus shipping.
50 Round Box - 357 SIG Remington Bonded Golden Saber 125 grain Hollow Point GSB357SB | SGAmmo.com
Shot almost a 50box thru my S&W40 with S&W 357SIG barrel; all were 100% functional and reliable. (Had they not been, I would not have bothered expansion-testing them. )
Shot my normal way--10 feet away and with 4 layers of cloth (denim front and rear and 2 terrytowels inbetween) on the front of the 1st of 6 1-gallon waterjugs. WARNING--the last bullet--#5--is a Federal HST for comparison and NOT a Remington.
Not surprisingly because it expanded little, bullet 1 hit the rearwall of jug #5 but did not crack it. This is NOT good performance, but I know from experience that my thick-cloth simulation is tough on bullets. (For instance, I believe that no Speer Gold Dot that I've ever tested has passed this test in that the bullet does not expand after its nose fills with fabric.) Bullets 2 thru 4 (and the #5 HST) each cracked the rear wall of jug #4 equaling 24" of penetration. (On my 30" monitor, I can see the pattern of the denim cloth imprinted on the front-center of these 3 bullets.) Weights of bullets 2 thru 4 were 124.4 thru 124.8g. Bullets 1 and 5 each weighed just over 121g.
SO...IN MY OPINION (which may be worth exactly what you paid for it), the GS Bondeds performed well but inconsistently, and that first bullet's failure bothers me. I believe I'll buy no more as long as I can continue to get the HSTs.

I have no reliable idea of any differences among such barrels. My two extra 357SIG barrels are for original-version M&P40s with 4.25" barrel. I do know that the 357 barrel's chamber portion is slightly wider than that of the 9 and the former will NOT drop into the slide of an M&P9.
