I am sure most of you know, especially those living in the 'blue' states, but this is just a heads up for the less informed -- there is, while not new, a large movement afoot to curb out ability to buy ammo. It covers a wide area and 'reloading ' is sure to follow in short order. The ruin of a huge industry is on the horizon to say the least. It covers much more than I can go into here, but this will give you a good idea, and it will only get worse.

I predicted this in 1968 and it has surely come about,- in spades. While I dont have to worry, some of you younger guys might with no doubt. Just a heads up mind you.

Yikes ... as expected ... I’m sure they will require licensing for home loaders. Along with taxing powders and primers out of existence.

Nothing real new here. Mass has had bans/restrictions on allowing ammo and or components to be shipped to its residents for many years. Even when deemed legal (which is a chore in itself as the laws are purposely written vaguely), many companies won't ship in fear of being sued by the MA AG's office. Still MA residents have many ways and sources to get what they want ( just maybe not from the same vendor and /or price the free states enjoy.) It's inconvenient but not crippling by any means.

BTW, the article states: " as Massachusetts is one of the states that requires residents to get a state ammunition card so they can buy ammo. In this way the state also prohibits anyone from out of state from buying ammunition." Is not really correct. There is no "Ammunition card". The card they speak of is the MA Licence to Carry ( or Firearms ID in the case of those under 21.). That said, it is true that it requires a MA LTC to buy handgun ammo in the state ( and a FID to buy longgun ammo). They do not honor LTC's from out of state.

All this is just the latest attempt to eat the elephant one bite at a time ( in one state at a time.)

The word "ammunition" is not in the 2nd Amendment. But cutting off ammo sure would "infringe".

We live in a Democracy where the majority rules and there will come a day when the non-gun owners will out number gun owners.

It is as simple as their are less people living in the country and in farming areas. And more people living in the crowded cities and suburbia that do not hunt and shoot.

We are luckly in the US compared to the UK, Canada and Australia with much stricter firearms and ammunition laws. The good news is as long as the politicians are supported by the NRA and other groups the anti-gun lobby will be held at bay.

Its sad but even my sister came to visit me once and saw my gun cabinet and got upset about my guns. I told her if she felt threatened she could sleep in a motel instead of under my roof.

Every month, a little piece of my mailbox money goes to ammo.

Actually we live in a constitutional republic. Democracy is mob rule, we haven't sunk that far yet. That's why the Electoral College protects those of us in the flyover states.

We don't actually live in a democracy, but a democratic republic. The difference is that the majority's power is limited. Otherwise, as noted, the majority could simply force it's will on a large minority. This is why many new democracies fail. The minority is not protected.

Yep, Constitutional Republic. Maximilien Robespierre was a big supporter democracy ended up losing his head from mob rule which he nurtured.

That means that criminals won't have any ammo to commit crimes with. GEE!

Yup. Democracy is two wolves and a sheep voting on what to have for lunch. Our founding fathers were extremely wise in designing the checks and balances in our government to prevent the majority from trampling on the rights of the minority.

FWIW, I am also building up a large supply of reloading components and ammo a little at a time. I've got enough components to reload around 30k rounds, and about 20k worth of loaded rounds (not counting 22lr). I'm working towards getting to the point that I'll have enough to last me for as long as I'm interested in or able to use them.

As more and more of these laws get passed, those who haven't laid in a good supply will wish they had.
