Default Looking for some historical information on 45 Colt 225gr lhp

Back in 1978, when it first came out, I carried a 25-5 4" as a cop and carried it with 225 gr lead hollow points. I think they were Winchester. I was chatting about this the other day with someone and I ended up checking and neither Remington nor Winchester list that round in their catalogs in that time period.

Might anyone know when this round was available? I know I carried the gun and LHP ammo then and am mystified unless it was Federal or Western or some other brand and i am remembering incorrectly.

Now that I think about it, I believe you are right about Federal. Gun is long gone. Went into evidence room after a situation and property guys left it bagged up dirty and it rusted so I sold it and bought model 66 S&W and used the then-new 145 grain silvertips.

I still have a partial box of the Federal 225 SWCHP. It has product code 45LCA and a price tag marked $21.95.

My 25-5 likes 225 gr. better than the 255 gr.
