Default Magtech ammo quality?

Any recent opinions on Magtech ammo...preferably.38 special? Will be used for target shooting and plinking. Is is much dirtier than other comparably priced brands?

I've shot 357 back a few years ago and found it clean and powerful. More accurate than I was/am.

I have been shooting their 158 grain 38 Specials and they seem fine.

I picked up 1700 rounds just before the CV lockdown but since the range is closed I haven't had the chance to use them.

I've shot their .45 ball before--it was very accurate in my RIA 1911a1.

I love MagTech at the range.... it's really good, reliable ammo and don't really burn too dirty.

I have a preference for Magtech. It is usually the lowest price around here in several calibers, and since I don't reload (yet) I've noticed that my "range brass" (spent cases) get swooped up into a separate container by RSO and assistants. Don't know why but maybe the brass is good to better for re-loaders, as most other flying brass is dumped into 1 bucket. The RSO and others can see what I'm using because I reload right out of a factory box, and they even grab those empty boxes/inserts when I'm done for the day.

Anyway: thousands of 38 Special, Magtech (38A), 158 gr. LRN, and probably equal amount of Magtech (38P) 158 gr. FMC-F, Full Metal Case-Flat nose, .357 Magnum Magtech 158 gr. SJSP, and a few hundred rounds of S&W 32 Long, Magtech 98 gr. LRN.....No complaints from me or any of my S & W guns they were used in.

Not particularly dirty in any case either, as compared to 22 rounds from any OEM.

Magtech is quality ammunition. I also like their brass casings for subsequent reloads.

I’ve fired my share of MagTech 9mm, .38 Spl and .357 and have always found it to be quality stuff.

I have a 66-1 that, for accuracy, would rather have their 357 158 gr jsp than anything.

100% their brass makes up 90% of my 44 special brass that I reload, it hasn't caused me a single issue.

I’ve also shot a lot of Magtech in .357 and .44 Mag, .
45 ACP and I’ve reloaded the brass, good quality

On the other hand the .22lr I tried years ago was horrible and unreliable

I like the Magtech I've bought - .44spl, .357, .9mm. All are reliable and accurate.

My daughter took her CCW class a couple months ago and for the range time they required 100 rds of factory ammo. I bought her two boxes of Magtech 38 Special 158 gn ammo, mainly because of price and in my experience shoots pretty close to POA in fixed sight revolvers. Worked fine for her and she hit all of the targets, even the moving ones. I've already converted the brass into 148gn DEWC ammo.

Found piles of .38 Special Magtec at a local ACE Hardware back when finding ammo was just about impossible. Bought it as I could afford it. Shot it with happy abandon. Wonderful ammo. If I were to again see some, I'd buy it. Sincerely. bruce.

Default Magtech in Blister Packs

Several years ago, my LGD had some .45 ACP Magtech in blister packs. Bought a few. Really good ammo. No issues at all.

I've been shooting the 158 gr FMJs as range ammo. They function fine, seem a little hot in a S&W 340 (perceived recoil). I've used them as range ammo before and they've been functional.

Has been more than one shooter get a leg & / or points in Distinguished Revolver with Magtech 158 RN or American Eagle 158 . Shoots suprisingly well for service pistol ammo . Even @ 50yds it'll get points if shooter does their part .

It must be reliable ammo because..................

a guy named Jerry has broken a lot of speed shooting records with revolvers and pistols , using that ammo.

For an old guy, JM can shoot !!

I’ve shot thousands of rounds of their .45, never had a single issue. It was accurate and not excessively dirty. I had a Kahr CW45 for several years that wouldn’t run reliably with any factory ammo I tried except Magtech.

I’ve used MagTech in several caliber works fine. Not sure why people get so caught up in clean or dirty ammo. Never gave it any thought pre internet. Just clean the weapon when you are finished.

I use Magtech 158gr LRN in my Model 10-9, it might be a bit dirtier than other brands but surely is very pleasant and accurate to shoot at the range at 25yd!!....
