Default Western super match 38 special question?

Got a couple of questions about this ammo I picked up today? Is it still safe to shoot or is it collectible? It’s Western 38 special super match 148 grain lead. Has a product code of E107101 on the flap and 46KE71. Thanks for any information on this. I’ll try to post pictures!

Your box is from 1975, too young to have any collectible value. It's worth about as much as a new full box. You may as well shoot it.

I have two Model 37s and use it in them exclusively for practice. FWIW I use Federal 38C 158 semi-wadcutter std. vel. for carry in them

My girl carries them for defense in a Colt Detective Special.

Perfect.... NO.... but it certainly beats harsh words.

She likes them, and shoots them well... Good enough for me.

I have many boxes of that brass, and a bunch in the yellow boxes that came before the white/red ones like you have. It's the double cannelured brass that factory wad cutters came loaded in, and I keep it segregated for that purpose.

That's good ammunition, be sure to save the brass, if you reload those 148 grain HBWC it works really well.

Great load, shoot a few and prize the rest. Thank you for sharing those old boxes brings back fond memories. The 38 Spl has been my favorite cartridge for nearly 50 years...from mild wadcutter target loads to powerful 38-44 rounds. It is like having a few guns in one!

Many ammo companies use a shorter, lower in height box for the 148gr ammo, that can be nice to have, instead of the taller boxes that hold the
JHP or 158gr lead bullets.

I try to keep the cases and boxes together if they are the "Short" boxes.

The Winchester ammo is good stuff but it is usually a little higher in price than it's other two major USA, ammo company's.

It was king of the hill in the 60 & 70's for target shoots.

Have fun.

Very accurate in my Mod 52, loved it!! Cleaned a slow fire course first time after sighting it in. Still have about 10 boxes and that Mod 52 only shot one box. Love that ammo wish the still made it!! Never have been able to duplicate the accuracy of that ammo.
