FEDERAL .22 HV
Been out of things for some time but in getting out yesterday I came upon the above ammo for the first time.. Anyone use this high dollar stuff $49.00 a brick. I dont have any need for any more 22's but, I have a .45/.22 conversion kit that works better with high velocity ammo. Might this stuff be just the thing?? Any thoughts? THANKS!

Federal makes several different HV .22 LR rounds and you don't say
which or where you saw it. But there is plenty of HV .22 LR available right
now for less than $25 a brick even at today's elevated prices. No way
would I pay $49 a brick for ANY .22 LR.

Unless it's match ammo, that's pricey at about 10 cents per round. Even today you can do a lot better than that.

J.R. You are right though in your assumption that conversion units (pretty much all of them) like the extra impulse from HV rounds. The AR 15 conversions as well as most of the 9mm and 45 to 22 semi-auto conversions just seem to like them. Some even demand hyper velocity stuff to run right. Accuracy? It really doesn’t matter if the gun doesn’t work! JMHO, YMMV!

My 2206 likes Federal HV but I wouldn't oblige at that price. Plinking doesn't require it.

Frog, yes, while the problem was new to me, it seems the problem was pretty much ongoing from the beginning.. On the standard stuff of the day, the soft lead build up around the floating chamber. Once I got a handle on it, my Mark IV Series '70 shot on par with a Gold Cup, with the unit installed. So, a 45/and a 22, the best of Both worlds. So, I sold the Gold cup. I DID at one point pick up an extra barrel & bushing for this gun and install Stag stocks with a pair of Ivories put aside for whatever reason. just a point, exactly what is considered HV?, in most circles?
Just a further point, the Colt conversion is brown box and well predates the gun itself.
