Some older .38special SWC
Howdy,
Wondering if any could tell me (other than the obvious) anything about these? Maybe a year something about the company? Quality reloads? Anything would help...

3D ammo was top notch for me , when I bought it years ago.
Loved the 110gr Jhp .357 ammo, very accurate and better than anything I could load.

3D was a major ammo remanufacturing company. Back in the 1970's and 1980's we used 3D ammo on our police department range for years. I don't recall any significant problems.

When I was a young (and poor) lad....
I used that ammo by the thousands.
Never a problem.
My only negative recollection was that the ammo had a fair amont of smoke and tasted "funny".

I shot some 3-D way back in the day also. 3-D did something that I don’t recall any other re-man outfits doing... they made their ammo from used brass, but they also OVER stamped the case head! I’ve still got some nickel .357 in my stash that is W-W Super with 3-D stamped right in there with it.
The look is... not great, hahaha. Makes the case head really busy.
Ammo never gave me any fits. I used more Black Hills back in those days.

I used to buy them at gun shows some years ago. Mild somewhat smoky
reloads about like Star as I recall.

3-D was a commercial reloader, and I think their customer base was mainly PDs, for training use. No idea when they started business or if they still exist. I have several boxes of their .38 Special ammo. I don't remember seeing any other calibers. The boxes I have are green and white, marked as "For Law Enforcement Use Only".

They were located in Doniphan, NE. I can't find if they are still in business or not, but I think not.

Our NYC range ordered many cases of 3D .38 wadcutters in the 70s and 80s. I shot several 1000s of 3D WCs back then. Never a problem. It seemed that a SWC/LRN service round equivalent was not available at that time. We LEOs would have absolutely LOVED such a load!

I still have some in 125 gr swc. They hit similar to CCI 135 gold dot 38 +p out of snubs. Great for practice, never had any problems with them. Be Safe,
