Anyone have a source for any shootable 200 grain Super Police .38 S&W Special loads? I don’t reload but would like to have some to shoot, but not vintage rounds as they are collectibles.

Sure wish someone would make this classic loading available again. I’ve always heard good reports on its thumping factor and one shot knock down score.

From what I read the Super Police is pretty much the 38/200 military load.
This place has some, Don't know anything about it.

I do not know what 200 "Super Police is??

I though at first 38 SW if not then this ammo would not be correct.

I believe the Super Police load you are looking for is the old 38 Special with a 200 grain bullet. I used to carry that many years ago in my model 36 backup gun. Have not seen that load available in many years. The 38/200 that has been mentioned is for the old 38S&W , an entirely different cartridge. The latter is actually a .38 caliber and will not work in the 38 Special which is actually .357 caliber.

The 200 grain RNL .38 Super Police was not considered an effective defensive round in the real world.

There are many more similar historical reports online.

The Winchester/Western 38 Special Super Police 200 gr loading was discontinued years ago by Winchester. Winchester also loaded the 38 S&W with the 200 gr bullet and called that one “Super Police” as well. As we know, these are two entirely different cartridges and not interchangeable.

The 38 Special 200 gr loading can be duplicated using Magnus 200 gr RNL Bullets over 2.7 grs Bullseye.

Yes, there were two W-W ".38 Super Police" loads, .38 S&W Special and .38 S&W. I don't believe either is superior in performance effectiveness (or even close) to any of the more modern defensive loads available, and I wouldn't waste my money on them. For sure, Remington also loaded a 200 grain lead bullet version of the .38 Special as I have an old box of them. Remington applied no special name to them.

FYI; the .38 S&W (not special) are intended for the old British Webley and Enfield revolvers. not even close - dimensionally speaking.....

I know Andy of Steinel Ammo, They're based in northern Ohio. Andy is a great guy. He always has tables at the Ohio shows. They're a 'relatively' recent start-up of an ammo manufacturer.

When you get to talking about 38 cartridges and 9mm cartridges things can get really confusing really fast .
There are so many that begin with 38 or 9mm that I bought a book called "Cartridges of the World", just to get a handle on what was out there . Every few years I buy an up dated copy .
If not for sitting down and studying all the different cartridges I would have been totally lost and confused .
If you want to learn more about the different rounds out there I can highly recommend "Cartridges Of The World" ... makes you look like you know all kinds of gun related details .

You really don't need to buy a new edition of COTW very often. All the older cartridges remain the same, just some new cartridges are added from time to time such as the .300 Blackout, 6.5 Creedmoor, etc. It is far from the best cartridge reference book available but it is fully adequate for most shooters who are not deep into cartridge collecting. My copy of COTW goes back into the 1970s.
