Apparently Federal Ammunition is cutting out the middleman!
Over the weekend I observed a YouTube video which reported that Federal is now selling ammunition directly to the shooter/consumer. This is confirmed by visiting their website. Prices appear to be twice what most local merchants charged. Might this be an indication of where post-pandemic prices are headed?

I'd be curious to know how their distributors feel about this, and how it affects their contracts.

.37 per round, 17.99 box of 50 is way cheaper than all the other idiots out the at $54+ for a box. Link was posted on addicts last night, all sold out too. Hell I reload and ordered a case too. Pretty cool mfg direct.

It’s not uncommon these days for manufacturers to sell direct, but they almost always sell at full MSRP. Their retailers generally sell it at a discount. Leupold has been doing it for years and Carhartt started online sales a few years ago.
These are unusual times. It’s generally a win - win for everyone. Distributors/major retailers typically place large orders at the beginning of the year. They can rightfully claim that they sell at a discount and the manufacturers can sell excess inventory at a higher price. It does complicate thing for the manufacturers, since they have to take end user orders, process more payments and ship in smaller quantities.

I’m sure they will still have dealer vs on line customer price variances.

Prices are a little steep but they show stock on quite a few calibers.
They even list primers but dealer only. Too bad because I could sure use a few thousand small pistol.

Been going on for awhile. Three weeks ago a friend of mine ordered a 1k case of Federal American Eagle 9mm from them . I think it was $13.99 a box at the time . Apparently they’ve jacked up their prices since then .

I have placed a few orders through them this month. My first was on 8/7 and they notified me it was shipping on 8/22. When they say up to 15 days to ship your item....they mean it.

I looked up my 30-06 hunting ammo. Federal wants $40.99 plus S&H my local Bass Pro wants $34.99 plus tax regularly. But if local places don't have it available, like now, and you need it... I will also say Buds had it for $29.99 plus shipping and Bass Pro had it on sale for the same amount. But again locally everything is wiped out, so when you need it it's nice to have another source as an option.

That's insane! Midway had ammo cans (420rd?) of Korean milsurp recently. Don't remember price but was WAY cheaper.
Edit: just checked Ammoseek. Lots of it for $.37rd in 1080rd cans

My thanks also....picked up some .44 mag 270gr. soft points. Should be potent stuff out of my Marlin. They’re apparently a brand new load this year.
