When all this ammo that's being hoarded falls to the heirs the dealers will be lucky to get 1cent per round.

You're assuming that everyone who hoards ammo actually has the means to adequately store it. Unfortunately, most folks who panic buy lack the presence of mind necessary to allocate the necessary space or containers to keep their ammo in a cool, dry place, ergo a fair amount of this ammo is going to end up crammed into whatever space it will fit in with little or no concern for preserving it because the folks who bought it think they'll be needing it very shortly to fend off all the zombies, street gangs, wasteland raiders, cyborgs, and/or aliens.

So yeah, most of this ammo is going to end up in the back of someone's closet, beneath the floorboards, between the mattress/boxspring, in the rafters, in the cellar, or inside the vegetable crisper.
If it is ever heard from again, then it will be in one of those obnoxious "I forgot I had this!" posts in which somebody shows a pictures of several boxes of ammo stacked inside of a tacklebox or something complete with the story of how it was purchased during the COVID-19 scare then forgotten. Or worse, it will end up inherited, by some kid who has no interest in firearms yet makes a fly-by-night account just so he can ask what it's worth.

My "excess" ammo is safely and correctly stored. I am not too worried about what I might get if I sell it. I have been through several ammo shortages and grown wary. I am more concerned that my sons and grandsons have ammo to train and defend themselves with.

Kind of like how after all the panic buying after Sandy Hook calmed down there was a flood of barely used ARs available for $200 and all that .223 ammo bought during the shortage was being resold for $10/round? For the sarcasm impaired, yes that was sarcasm.

My guess is after all of this is over ranges are going to become very busy as people realize how much ammo they have and decide they might as well shoot it.

Ammo doesn’t take up much space. Hoarders just starting out can’t get ammo any more than we can. It’ll get stored under the bad, back of the closet, i.e. in air conditioning. A few might have wives tell them, “I don’t want that in the house, put it out in the shed.” You’ll smell the moldy cardboard.

A couple tears back eggs were $4/ dozen. Yesterday an 18 pack was $1.53. Supply and demand. Unfortunately, market forces can be artificially manipulated. Oil cost to get out of the ground is pretty "static" yet I can remember during the previous "leadership period" a previous leader said he wanted $8 a gallon gas and it made it all the way to $4.25/ gal. $6/ gal in Cali. We'll see. Joe

I’ve seen 3 different major shortages. The manufacturers always end up up with over production when the shortage lets up. Ammo deals to be had aplenty after each shortage. Unless some sort of ban I predict the same in this instance
