Found this posted on another forum and thought I would post here eliminating contact information. I kinda hope he chokes on it myself.

"We don’t usually sell ammo but got an opportunity to buy a shipment. We paid through the nose but are trying to price it as competitively as possible. The market just sucks right now.

Not interested in selling in smaller quantities than listed. We don’t ship and this ammo is at our office in ******** ready to sell. All prices are cash/check. Credit cards are +3%.

9mm FMJ 1000rds. $600+tax
9mm JHP (Gold Dot G2 147gr. and HST 124gr.) 1000rds. $1000+tax
.223 FMJ (PMC) 1000rds. $900+tax
.223 FMJ (Federal) 500rds. $500+tax
.380 FMJ (PMC Bronze) 50rds. $75+tax
.45 Hornady Critical Duty 220gr. 500rds. $650+tax
12 ga. Federal FliteControl 9 pellet 00 Buck 250rds. $400+tax

Call (***)***-**** to pay by phone. We open at 9AM tomorrow Saturday 9/12. Thanks!"

Cajun here: If this is competitive pricing, I'll just wait a while to get more.

That’s kind of competitive today, bless his soul. I’m not that competitive yet.

I certainly hope things cool off, but I have my concerns.
Depending on how thing pan out, we may be looking on those prices with fond nostalgia.

Yeah those are crazy asking prices. Some may just pay them though. Back when the other guy was Pres a lot of folks paid $2000 or more for $500 AR-15s too.

Even though I'm in a pretty rural area there's LOTS of 9mm back on the shelves at normal prices. One store had Winchester white box 200 round value packs for $54.00 ..... limit THREE!

From what I've seen, those prices are pretty much in line with the current market. I'll bet it all gets sold quickly, if not gone already.

In the panic buying that took place in early 2013, after Sandy Hook, I remember a GunBroker auction for 100 AR-15 thirty-round mags...the "winner" paid somewhere in the neighborhood of $8000 for them...

This is reminiscent of the 22 long rifle drought several years back. There was a guy selling 22 long rifle and his prices were ludicrous.

The 22 long rifle drought ceased and the guy dropped his prices, no one bought anything. Hopefully he had 22 long rifle rounds in his breakfast bowl instead of corn flakes.

It’s similar to the stock market “Buy low, sell high”...... Or in our case “Buy low, shoot often”.....

They're his. He is free to price them any way he wishes.

We are free to scroll right on by.

I wouldn't sell any of mine now at any price, "well short of comfortable retirement money" because I know at the moment I can't replace them.

I read that also. I don’t think I would ever buy at those prices. I have plenty of ammo and reloading supplies. I guess if I were really desperate my position on this may be different.

Reports of an Indiana gun show seller bagging 9mm in sandwich bags at a buck a round. I have no problem with that as it gives those that failed to prepare an option. I'd pay it if I had none but fortunately I'm loaded.

Scored four bricks of 22 lr and a case of .223 yesterday. The rimfire was normally priced....the .223, not so much.

Carry On!

You'd think with the ammo shortage firearm sales would be hurting.

I know when .22lr was so high, many folks in my area all but stopped buying .22lr caliber anything.

WOW is right.

I'm in pretty good shape myself but I would like more .45 ACP ammo.

A good friend of mine told me to never worry as he has more .45 ACP than both of us can ever shoot.

If I sold my ammo at those prices, I don’t think I’d need to go back to work. Ever.

At a dollar per round I think I would sell off some of mine too!

This reminds me of some older guys I worked for when I was young. They would have a nice car or something of value. People would ask if its for sale. They would answer, everything is for sale for the right price.

I guess its the same with ammo today, sure its for sale but...

WalMart still has 22LR at "normal" prices, same as they were a year ago, on the Federals that I buy.

But, they had a box of 20, 7mm Mags, the other day for $53.87 plus 10% tax.

Have a blessed day,

Leon

It is his ammo but his greed put the quality of his character in question. I would never pay someone to take advantage of me. I wouldn’t by from him now or ever in the future.

The assumption is prices will normalize, well how many thought the pandemic would happen?

Normalcy bias is a wonderful thing till reality smacks you up side the head.

The only issue I see is not having ammo when you need it and that’s a call we all make individually.

I've noticed on the local gun buying boards people are selling ammo at ridiculous prices . One guy was selling 45 sd rounds at a dollar each . I seriously doubt it's guys that have been in the gun world for a while . It's like a hurricane down here , someone is always out to sc*** someone else .

Pistol ammo is really hard to find around here. When Academy gets it in, it's still at regular prices. It disappears fast.
Dunham's and a farm and ranch store that sells ammo have raised their prices, but their shelves are just as empty.
But, we have our greedy sellers too. Alot are on Armslist offering ammo at high prices. Some are pretty brazen about it. One guy has a box of .380 posted. The picture shows the price tag of $17.99 but he has it posted on sale for $50.

Supply-demand kind of thing. Quite frankly, the people who were blind to the past antics of a certain political party...that hires street thugs to intimidate and harm non-compliant people and their property....are going to have to pay.
Many of those who are now paying dearly for ammo didn't want to pay attention to those 'tin-foil-hat wearers' and 'ammo hoarders'.
I feel sorry only for the young people who are now becoming of age to purchase guns and ammo.

I can remember seeing a seller back then trying to sell .22 Long Rifle shells at $80 per brick. The operative word is "trying", because I never saw the stack getting any smaller.

Here in upstate NY handgun ammo is nonexistent, most hunting ammo is also now almost nonexistent. All the local Bass Pro has is 12 gauge birdshot, some 300 Magnum rifle ammo and a few boxes of 32s. Anything else you'd better be in the aisle when the ammo shipments are wheeled in...

A couple of years ago I bought a no name, no caliber revolver that I thought should be some kind of a .38. When I got it home I determined it was chambered in .38 short Colt. I found a box online and paid shipping and if I remember correctly it was $46-$48 for a box. The gun fired on all 6 chambers so I have 44 shells left. Larry

This is why you should always buy a box of ammo every here and there during times of relative peace/prosperity. I know it's tough with other expenses, especially when you're saving up for your next firearm which will totally be your last for reals this time, but it's best to spend your money on ammo, at least until you have a nice supply to get you through a possible future shortage. You can always spend your money on new guns when an ammo shortage occurs since the prices on ammo will be high, but firearms will generally be more or less the same price as usual, unless it's something really popular.

@ the OP. That's really something. I, like a lot of people, didn't imagine the pricing, but am prepared.

I’d take on that challenge...

I put 350 rounds of 9mm down range yesterday along with 75 rounds .300 Blackout. I kind of cringe when I think of how much that’d cost to replace at today’s retail price, but mine was all reloads with my own cast bullets.

As usual, we'll be staying OFF the election, November, Democrats, racial issues, martial law, etc.
Or, I can lock it.
Your choice.

If only more folks did the same, then we likely wouldn't have significant ammo shortages because folks wouldn't feel the need to impulse-buy ammo during times of trouble, not to mention less dirtbag scalpers trying to profit off of other folk's fears by selling their ammo at jacked up prices.
Although that least has the fringe benefit showing which of your neighbors you can count on to pull together in a pinch, separating them from those who are really only looking out for themselves.

I've been watching private websites for ammo and in the last two weeks prices have risen steadily. 9mm went from .45/round (which was already high) to .85/round for FMJ. 380 is that or higher and 45ACP is all over the board. Some guys asking .50/round and some asking 1.00/round. Shelves in the metro area are empty most days. Every once in a while a store gets a pallet in and its gone in minutes.
I'm OK with free enterprise but don't tell me it's justified because that's what others are asking just put your price on it and if someone is desperate enough too bad for them and lucky you. We all know you're price gouging because of the panic.

Any question about reloading. Reloaders may not save any money, but with proper planning the ammo supply is never ZERO. 223 ammo is $19 per 100 rounds, 38 Spl (lead) is $2.10 per 50 rounds plus a little propane. My 223 inventory exceeds a 5 gallon bucket.

Small primer handgun ammo is adequate, but the primer inventory is down to 3K. Why would I buy 50˘ cartridges?

Of course, he can price it any way he sees fit, just as we can pass it by.

He probably did have to pay a price to get them and anybody would expect to make some profit off the deal.

I haven't bought much commercial ammo in years, reloading gives me the opportunity to pass 'deals' by.

I know when .22lr was so high, many folks in my area all but stopped buying .22lr caliber anything.
I think new gun owners have no idea what normal ammo prices were so they buy it anyway.

Somebody posted 223 ammo at my club for $.50/round.
It's nice being able to sit back and watch the insanity.
And shoot, too.

Most people don't shoot. Even gun hoarders. They buy a gun and shoot part of a box and that's it. Very few people accept my invites to go shooting.

He's loaded about 600 rounds for my .41 Magnum, 100 for my .44 Magnum and "some" for my .357 Magnums.
