Default Need help with with cartridge identification

A friend bought some assorted stuff and found a bag of ammo of unknown caliber, that would like to identify.

The bullet is brass colored and the case is an OD green, with brass colored primer. COL is 2.190, case length is 1.517, the rim diameter is .444 and the bullet is .309. Measurements by my calipers. Oh, the headstamp is a 61 stamped at 12 oclock and an 81 at 6 oclock

Anyone seen one of these before?

Thanks for your help.

Pictures would help tremendously, but based on the stats you provided, it sounds like either 7.62x39 or 7.62x40mm Wilson Tactical.

It is more likely ammo for Yugo VZ 52??? I think it was 7.62 x 45mm. They were trying to stick finger in the eye of USSR in early 1950s by having their own cartridge instead of adopting 7.62x39mm like Satellites did. Think that was only weapon developed for that round.

The headstamp suggests a Chinese origin. Both 61 and 81 are known PRC headstamps. One of those (probably 81) is likely a year of manufacture. I'd guess 7.62x39.

Case length measures 38.51 mm, so it looks like 7.62x39.
Thanks for your knowledge!!
