Default Ammunition shortage in Missouri

The local oldies station has a talk segment in the morning. Being a rural area the topics range from market price of corn to when to bring plants inside. With hunting season approaching todays topic was ammo availability. The speaker was from one of the larger shops and it seems that .30-30 is all but gone with .30-06, .270 and .308 in short supply. He suggested that no matter where you buy from don't wait until opening day eve or you may have to throw rocks.

This is everywhere. Something about Old Mother Hubbard. The ammo cupboard is bare.

I'd expect this in urban/suburban areas but not here in the sticks.

Where you think the city folk are getting their ammo from.

When and if you see ammo you can use, buy it.
This applies to City and Country Folks.
And everybody in between.

I can't speak to the situation in Missouri, but I've looked recently around here (south Louisiana).

Not surprisingly, the local gun shops and Academy were pretty barren.

Surprisingly enough, I did find some ammo at... WALMART.

30-30, Federal blue box (Hi Shok?), a goodly supply on the shelf, for $15 a box. Not bad, not far above what it usually runs as I remember it. I bought 4 boxes of it.

30-06 and .308 were also there. I don't have a 30-06, and the .308 was higher than I wanted (it wasn't bad for hunting rds, I run with steel cased to plink out of a C308).

I just caused Midway to run out of the cheap Underwood 50 Beowulf, I ordered the last 4 boxes they had ($136 for 80 rounds). Now I can make a trip to the range and test the evil AR to see if it will work with the new mags I got last week, and the other two I modified that wouldn't feed properly.

I bought 400 rounds of 45 colt, 5 boxes of 222, 10 boxes of FMJ 350 legend and 125 rounds of 22 mag. I also stumbled on one box 40 and one box 45, these 2 boxes are for my two son in laws for Christmas. I know that is not 9mm or 223 but I was out of 45 colt
