Default Unknown (to me) .30 cal Round

I came into possession of a small quantity of these and I'm not sure what they are. .30 cal bullet with a very slight shoulder and taper of the case. Head stamped LC (Lake City), 09, Nato cross. At first I thought it might be an experimental SAW round, but no. OAL is 2.12". It's probably something common but I am just not familiar.

I'm guessing AAC is Advanced Armament. They were about 5 miles from my house. I heard he sold out to one of the big ammo manufacturer, Remington I think, for a very large profit. I have one of their Scarab suppressors.

Here's a AR pistol I built based on the round, works well and it's accurate but I'm here to tell you with a barrel 8.5 inches long it's
nasty loud without a suppressor.

I'll bet. I believe the 300 BO is subsonic, is it not? So a suppressor would definitely be in order. How much $ is the ammo?

It doesn't have to be subsonic, many of my reloads are in the 1800-2000 fps range those are the really loud ones.
When your shooting subsonic with a suppressor it's really not that loud, don't even need a headset.
Due to the fact that I reload the rounds generally cost me around 35 cents per round. I really don't know what the retail cost is.

It's ballistically very similar to the .30-30 Winchester (depending on loading) and a good woods choice for whitetail. I built my friend's daughter a custom AR with recoil reducing stock in .300 when she was 7. She's taken several northern deer with it!

Andy Is this similar to what the BATFE recently declared now falls into the "Any Other Weapon" category and requires a registration and $200 tax stamp? They specifically mentioned the Honey Badger and similar builds.

I have a 300 BO AR "rifle" not a pistol like pictured above and it is fine without a suppressor as far as the noise. Really don't notice it to be any worse than other rifles.

As of right now no it isn't, that ruling applied to only one brace maker so for now I'm good to go. Who knows if there will be more rulings on this type of thing, next month I may have to disassemble or pay the tax stamp.

...but I can't afford a suppressor and can do the same thing with several other cartridges loaded light. A full power .300 Blackout is about the same as my SKS round so it would be redundant.

I don't own a SKS or a AK-47 so for me it wasn't redundant. I put off building a .300 for some time but decided to give the round a try, not that I really needed one just thought it was time.
I decided on the pistol because in the state I live in they have a alternative methods deer season where you can use pistols and the .300 I built fits that category.

I built a 300 BO upper for my AR for two reasons. First, I didn’t have a 30 cal for hunting and second, I wanted more use out of my AR than just targets or varmints. The BO is legal for whitetail deer in this state, so I have a light, manageable hunting rifle for the reasonable cost of building an upper.
