Default Black Powder/Pyrodex is still Fun

My father was an avid Muzzle Loader. Was his favorite season to hunt. We always went to BP Shoots when I was a kid. May have to wake up my BP guns, Id choose that over no gun powder smell at all. Subject may be in the wrong heading. But ammo is still ammo

It's reloading at the range without the pesky brass cases !

For "emergency" purposes I keep two black powder revolvers around , hopefully they will let us keep them ... Wild Bill Hickok did passable work with his brace of Navy Colts and in a pinch I could also . Surprisingly accurate shooting ... and fun to boot .
I really need to get a BP rifle l

Luke Duke yes it is! I don't shoot my BP rifles much anymore, but there was a time it was about all I did shoot.

Gun Broker while you still can! Cant beat T/C. I like .50 and under for general shooting and hunting. .54's and .58's work the shoulder pretty good.

As for BP rifles...I use a Savage smokeless powder muzzleloader...got two or three. No cleanup after shooting. I also have a TC Hawken 50 that I haven't fired in years. I have been considering getting a BP revolver or two...JIC ya know

Should always clean those front stuffers! Hottest water you can stand and Simple Green. Easier to clean than a center fire

For your black powder needs check out Buffalo Arms. They are about seventy five miles from where I live and have the reasonable black powder prices and just about everything a black powder user, cartridge or muzzle loader needs. Best prices are from Powder Inc. it is shipped to your door UPS, requires a signature. I'm chair of a muzzle loading club, best prices are in bulk (25lbs minimum, 50lbs maximum) save dollars per pound when you buy bulk. Once a year a guy in the club goes down to Southern Idaho and buys powder by the 25# bag, which used to be 25# cans, another buck a pound less than cans. I think our per pound price was around $15 which was insane compared to local one pound cans at near $30. Spokane no longer has anyone selling black powder, we have to go to Idaho or order it, ordering it is cheapest and less hassle. We make a day trip with breakfast and lunch included and with three of us can haul back 150lbs, although we usually come back with 50 and hand it out when the meeting takes place.

Make combustible paper cartridges and save time at the range!

I will always keep my TC Hawken and a Colt Army 1860 reproduction.
They both work just fine.
The revolver does shoot about a foot high at seven yards. It's an 'aim for the belt buckle' gun at that range.
