One could also say one hit with a .22 is better than a 1,000 misses with a .45.

Makes me wonder why .38 Special drying up so much faster than 9mm(???). Perhaps smaller supply or perhaps the wheel gun just ain't as dead as some folks thought! Would really like to know the answer to that question 🤪

In the 60s the only hicap pistol I knew of was a Browning High Power. One of my mentors was a trader that carried a big wad of money in one pocket and a Colt .45ACP in another pocket. He said if you had a 9 m/m you needed a bunch of bullets but if you had a Colt .45 seven bullets was enough. Larry

Only have one .45, an Ithaca M1911A1 from 1943. Don't shoot it hardly ever as it is a collectable from WW2 in very nice condition. But a year or so ago I made sure I had 4 boxes of ammo and I determined that it would work well in a pinch:

6 O'clock hold at 7 yards:

As long as the above is my only .45 ACP it is unlikely I will need to buy more .45 ACP ammo in the near future. However, if I had sturdy non-collectable gun in this caliber I would want to give it a lot of range time and I would be looking forward to the current high prices for .45 ACP ammo to come back to ground level.

See my post above about my recent discovery. You might find it interesting and even helpful.
