What did I just buy ....
.... besides 300 rounds of 5.56?
I've never had one of these before but thought it may be a good compliment to my mid-70's Colt SP1.
Guessing any value in this is because it's unopened, correct? Anything else anyone can tell me about it?

That looks like a South African battle pack. It's quality stuff!!
I'd guess that it's worth ~$150 - $200. At least that's what I'd ask for it.

Hmmm ... South African; would of never guessed that.
You suppose that 673 A 83 on the tag or label means made in 1983?

That's exactly what it is...I sold all of it I could get my hands on in my store (really should have kept some)...Those 300 round battle packs were packaged 9 packs to a case in a sturdy brown plastic tub...🤗...Ben

Willing to bet that there are a lot of those battle packs in peoples stash. Once upon a time they were everywhere.

The 7.62x51 SA battle packs were a phenomenal bargain when they were flooding the market.

If your AR15 is a Sporter and asks for .225 on it, you may have problems with running 5.56 ammo through it.

Thanks for all the comments and info guys.
The seller was "firm" at $150 and I figured that was plenty cheap in todays market so didn't even argue with him. Feel lucky when folks offer this stuff up sometimes.

Sort of like chicken wings. Once upon a time, the store would damn near pay you to take them and now they are the most expensive cut of poultry in the market. I used to see those battle packs stacked up at gun shows. You could buy them for almost nothing. Of course it hasn't been very long ago you could buy 556 ammo for $4.99 a box
