What does "remanufactured" ammo mean? It's not the same as "reloaded"? Yes, I am showing that I am still a newb. I just know that I'll get a more direct answer here with you all over searching the internet. Thanks in advance!!!

It means that it's reloaded by a commercial outfit.

Reloaded ammunition is what all these nice fellas here do in their garage with brass that could have been fired dozens of times. Remanufactured ammunition is done with once fired brass by a commercial producer and results in ammunition that's as close to new manufacture as you can get. Same machines, same process, same everything as the new stuff that gets turned out the other side of the line . . .

Re-manufactured ammunition is ammunition that has been "manufactured" in an industrial setting where the "brass" is reused. The primer, powder and bullet have been replaced with new materials. The manufacturer's quality assurance and inspection of the ammunition may or may not be similar to the big manufacturers.

I am a skilled reloader and I don't shoot ammunition that has been reloaded by another individual who is a reloader. I don't trust another reloader's technique or attention to safe practices. A re-manufacturer should have liability insurance for their products but you may be risking injury/death to save a few dollars.

Reman=No virgin brass

I won't use reman, you really don't know under what conditions it is being manufactured.

Thanks Guys.... reason I was asking was I came across a company called Buffalo Cartridge Company. .... I saw the description **9mm Luger Buffalo Cartridge 115gr FMJ RN RM** I haven't come across another description that included RN and RM so I looked up what that meant, then posted here.

Reloaded ammo and remanufactured ammo should be 2 different things. However, people call their stuff what they want and often call reloaded ammo remanufactured ammo. Sounds better.
As far as the loading in a garage goes, I have seen people selling boxed, labelled and branded ammo, and yes it said reman, that I know for a fact was loaded on 3 550's in a garage.
Especially when there is an ammo shortage, be careful what you buy. And as far as using the pistol for defense goes, I would stick to factory ammo for 2 reasons.
1. Better quality control.
2. Defense in court. Don't let the DA railroad you on a good shoot because you "Crawled into your basement and loaded your own, devastating ammo because the factory stuff wasn't deadly enough!"
Reload/Reman is fine for practice, but use the real stuff if you have to use it for real.

I have been using "factory remanufactured" .38 spl and .357 ammo for many years, most of it from a small local company. Local law enforcement used to use "reman'ed ammo for training in my state. I have only had one single bad round (which did not load into the cylinder) in that time.

I choose to give a local company my money over out of state big-brand manufacturers who abandon their employees at the drop of a hat (rant over now).

I also use HBWC (==hollow-base-wad-cutter) light loads in my revolvers, reloaded by a couple local friends, and never had an issue.

The real difference is that reloaded ammo is what handloaders make;their own reloaded ammo for shooting. “Remanufactured” is what people call the reloaded ammo they make to sell. “Remanufactured” ammo is more likely to be made on automated equipment and may or may not be any better than personally loaded hand loads. I have found that “remanufactured” ammo for commercial sale is likely to be pretty lightly loaded target velocity stuff. I much prefer my own loads.

Not trying to plug them, but I have been using "remanufactured" 223 ammo from Freedom Munitions off and on for some 10 years. Gives me a good supply of brass for when I get ready to do some reloading here at home. Just before things got really tight, I realized I did not have enough bullets to make as much 223 as I might want in 2021. So, lucked upon them still having some reman 223 and I ordered 300. Everything I have ever got from them has always worked fine and runs my M&P AR15 Sport just fine. +1 to using only manufactures brand name ammo to have in your self defense guns. Agree the DA will turn against you if you seek out some flambouyant high power ammo made in somebodys basement.

For information, Buffalo Cartridge Co. makes new and re manufactured ammo (re man. in select calibers). Their Outlaw brand (Cowboy Action) ammo has been used by Hickock .45.

I've never used it, but was impressed by there website.

I bought 500 rounds of .223 reman. ammo a few years back. It had Hornady bullets and has been shooting flawlessly.

I have used Ultramax reman in .357 SIG and Freedom Munitions reman in .380 with no issues. Range shooting only. Still have a couple boxes each. I don't recall any failures with either.
