Back when I had my gun shop I had a fellow that did the same. He still buys guns and ammo..reloading supplies etc. At one time he probably had more primers and guns than I did. Never went shooting. I talked him into shooting a bit and he went at it big time...Since I moved away he has gone back to almost no shooting again. Unmarried not many friends and he just likes buying...but he has the money to do it. I hope he has me in his will

Have a friend like that. Buys lots of neat stuff, ammo and guns. Rarely shoots any of it. Just likes his things and studies about them. He is happy.

PRECISELY!
Kind of like those who collect toy trains, and everything related to them. A good friend's BIL is exactly like that.

Got Rimfire?
I bought a fair bit of .22 lr these past months, and I’m also shooting a good amount of it. Some came from the gun shop, and a lot came from private sellers.
5000 Eley force
3000 Lapua pistol king
Various Swiss ammo
With some old Stingers and a South African box
Various RWS and Remington
9 bricks of RWS rifle match plus some various loose boxes

When you are a hoarder, the gratification comes from the acquisition and ownership. If you take it out and expend it, you no longer own it, so there is no resulting gratification. Don't ask me how I know this!
Fortunately for me and my shooting, I am not an ammo hoarder, at least not yet. I do have a comfort level for supply however, and find myself adjusting my shooting habits to accommodate the shifting balance of calibers on hand. Since factory ammo is now harder to get, I shoot more reloads. When factory ammo is cheap and plentiful, I get to spend more range time and less time at the reloading bench. This is my rationalization, YMMV.

So which are you? A bragger or a complainer? I am someone who tries to plan ahead, but I am both a bragger and complainer. I have stocked up and can probably outlast the current situation. Also, I tend to complain about the ridiculous prices of all things firearms/ammo related.

Were you drunk? Did someone have a gun to your head? It obviously wasn't too expensive if you found the need to shell out the money for it. It's not like you were buying a kidney or something. It's a recreational expense. So why whine about it?
Please explain the theory behind why a manufacturer would decrease output during a time of increased demand? Did they suddenly decide to stop making profits? Don't tell me about WalMart or CTD of some other retailer that decides to limit sales. They manufacture nothing and have nothing to do with the general availability of ammo.

About $250.00. I'd do that trade anytime.

Just did a ammo inventory and safe organization and have a good quantity of all the calibers I shoot as well my reloading supplies. Checking the price tags reminded me of the good'ol days. Out of the 4,000 rounds of various brands of 22's, I have 3 bricks of Blazer marked at $8.99. That's like striking gold in this day and age.

We used to shoot every month till about three months ago.
This week when I told my Grandson that it will cost $1.50 per Bullitt to shoot my ARs his eyes got BIG.
He said, "Let's hold off Grampa. You must be rich to have all of that ammo in your safe."
With all of the 22LR that I have I went ahead and bought a CMMG 22LR Conversion kit.
I keep seeing the commercial with the guy saying to "buy gold in these times of uncertainty."
I'm not an ammo "hoarder" but by the looks of my total 10 year accumulation of ammunition I made a wiser investment than gold.

They are $150, so even trade for today’s prices but I paid $16/box when my local Dicks was closing their Lodge.

I learned from the .22 rimfire "pandemic" from 8 years, or so ago. After that famine ended I stocked up on whatever .22 rimfire ammunition that was available:
Didn't bother with some of the Remington or Winchester stuff, that was being offered though.
My hope now, is that whomever bought the Remington ammunition line of products that they'll get those back to being what our "go to" .22 rimfire was back in the good days when Remington .22 rimfire was King!

I saw cases of Remington target shotshells at the big box sporting goods store at "normal" prices. $75/250. So at least that part of Remington ammo must be up and running.
It's not skeet shooting season for me, so I left them. They'll show up at $55 sooner or later. Fingers crossed.

We went too Wally world this afternoon and got Ggreatson a machete. I have a 1945 True Temper and the other day he was using it too dig up rocks so I bought him an Ozark Trail. It will soon be dull as a froe. I didn't see any ammo of any kind in the store not even shotgun shells. Larry

Larry,
I have a 1945 TT Machete also. my story is I found my wife one day edging the sidewalk with my Kabar. Went and bought her all sorts of garden tools after that.
