I hope this helps the ammo situation:
Vista Outdoor, the company that recently purchased the Remington ammunition plant in Lonoke, said Thursday that integration of the Arkansas operation into its larger business is ahead of schedule and that it is hiring and training workers as quickly as possible to meet ammunition demand across the country.

During a third-quarter earnings conference call, Chris Metz, chief executive officer of Vista Outdoor, said the company had done a remarkable job bringing Remington into the fold, noting the operation had to be brought up from essentially a cold start.

I just drove by the Remington ammo factory near Littlerock, AR in early January while on a drive across the country. It didn't look too busy at the time, so this is good news.

Tell them to back the semi up to the press, take it to Walmart and sell it by the pound out of the back of the truck. Use a paper lunch sack as packaging. One sack to a person.

I hope they figure out why Remington Golden Bullet rimfires suck so bad. In the past they were quite good. But that was 15 years ago.

They can’t be any worse than the Thunderbolts.

the big issue is inconsistent priming compound. the thunderturds leading up a barrel should be an easy fix.

I have Thunderbolts, Cyclones and Golden, Pre Obama panic and it is dependable stuff. Golden was the premium. Remington guns were better finished back then too. Remington got greedy and expanded to much and everything they had their fingers in suffered.

I truly hope that the new management has taken measures to insure that the quality of the ammunition coming out of the plant is much better than it was over the last few years! Federal, CCI & American Eagle has been producing quality ammo for a long time now and it would be terrific of that work ethic carried over to "the new" Remington.

[QUOTE=Racer X;141055835 the thunderturds leading up a barrel should be an easy fix.[/QUOTE]

It was for me. One barrel leaded up and I blamed it on the gun and got another pistol with the same results. I'm a slow learner. After I got the barrels clean I would have been ashamed too sell the rest of them and I wasn't angry enough at anyone too give them away so I scattered them out in a field like hand sowing grain. As scarce as ammo is now a person can't run fast enough to will them too me. Larry

I never had problems with the Thunderbolts, either ignition or leading, but all my boxes are from the early-90s. These all go bang consistently and don't lead the barrel. Boxes still have price tags from 50 cents to a dollar for 50 rounds. The good old days.

Based on the situation today, they will sell all they produce as fast as they can send it out the door. Remington and its fall from the top down to the bottom and bankruptcy was 100 % the fault of the owners and how they managed the company. Some were corporate raiders who intended to destroy the name and move on, which they did. I hope the new ammo side under Vista will put quality back into the name. And I hope they drop Thunderbolts from the production line.

Thunderbolts is just a name attached to a product. They need to fix the product specs and manufacturing process. Harder lead maybe with better lube.

The rimfire line had a serious priming issue maybe 10-15 years ago. I think they licensed the Eley priming process.

I learned 4P shooting at my club with old stock Remington std velocity and old Winchester 52 rifles. I shot great for a beginner. I think we had 1 misfire out of about a thousand rounds for the whole class session.

Did some duck hunting in Lonoke about 4 years ago. I had no idea there was a Remington plant nearby. I found out the hard way that it was a dry town. I wonder what the capacity of the plant is and how close to that they are running in production.

I doubt they are producing prodigious amounts of ammo yet..if any at all. What I got from the article was that they are well on the way towards getting the plant in production. I was told that before the big sale of assets that they had very little in assets at the place. When holding company leaders bail out leaving all that debt...they usually sell off all they can so they maximize their profits. Sell off all production assets and it does lead to bankruptsy. I do know that a VP of sales argued with the hierarchy to not change to dealing with big box stores only and leave the LGS guys to dance in the wind..It didn't work. That was right after acquisition by the Cerberus group, I think. Corporate raiders rape and pillage a company and leave the shell and usually hosing the workers leaving them high and dry

I have bought a lot of the REM-UMC ammo from this plant the plain boxes and non plated cases made for some good low priced ammo. The hundred rnd value paks I bought a few years ago at WM comprise a good percentage of my ammo stash. The .38spl and .357Mag 125gr sjhp the .45 acp 230gr fmg and JHP and the .380 fmj and jhp look good stored in bulk and bought at a good price during the good times between the panics. Of course a couple or 3 boxes once or twice a month didn't crimp my finances........

I bought a 250 count box yesterday at Scheels for $84.99. The box said it was from Lonoke, Arkansas.

Keep in mind that from here on this is a Federal-CCI plant . There is no need to bash Remington any longer. We have driven a 700BDL to 1500 buck and an 1100 to a thousand. As an avid collector and enthusiast I want to thank you.

In 1956 I bought Baby Ruth bar that melted on dashboard on my car in August. I’ll never buy that brand of car again.

The old UMC plant off I-40 is just about across the highway from J.B. Hunt, at least it was when I worked out of Adams Field 87-92. Never could get an employee to sneak me out a few cases.

Two local dealers have/had a small amount of Remington ammunition arrive about two weeks ago. One had a very small quantity of centerfire rifle ammo, and the other still has a fairly good amount of turkey shotshell ammo.

This would seem to indicate Remington ammunition is shipping.

I generally shoot only CCI Standard Velocity in all .22 rimfire rifles and handguns. A few years ago, I tried Remington Thunderbolt in a couple of good quality, non-target, .22 rifles It wasn't CCI, but it wasn't nearly as bad from an accuracy standpoint as the easy chair critics claim. If there was any bore leading at all, it was minimal and affected nothing. If you want better ammo, spend a little more.

My LGS/indoor range has been using Remington ammo for range use only, meaning you can only buy it if you’re using the range. Stacks of it sitting behind the counter. I tend to buy a box, shoot off 25 and take the other 25 home. $23/50.
