Default Ammo horse trading

Went to the local gun show today looking specifically for some 32 S&W Long. A couple of weeks ago I bought 2 boxes of .17HMR at Wal-Mart for 9ea. (I don’t even own a .17HMR I just bought it becuase it was sitting there).
A guy I knew was there that had 4 boxes of 32S&W Long, so we worked a deal out $50 cash and both boxes or the .17HMR.
So now I’m into 4 boxes of 32S&W Long for $17ea. Not great but ok for the environment I guess.

Outstanding! Who would have guessed we'd need to hunt ammo.

Thanks it has really come to the point where you have to “back door” yourself into ammo at a decent price.

It will be at least a $100 deal for the dealer. Your $50 cash and he will get at least $25.00 a box for the .17HMR. Or at least in my area he would.

But here in my area you made out. The last I checked any .32 was going for $50.00 a box of 50. My Granddaughter has a .32 Magnum and I reload so was checking to see what the going rate was. So Gramps made a couple of hundred for her.

Not bad at all. You honestly may have gotten that below normal selling price on all but the ppu.

Gun shows here 32 SWL are $45-$50 for a box of 50 now and 17HMR was $25-$30 for a box of 50.
I’m happy with the deal I went specifically just for 32 SML. I know the guy I bought if from he’s pretty sharp. Wouldn’t surprise me if he had $10ea in the box of SML. We both did ok and that’s the point.

Its all good. Not going to complain about walking out with 200 rounds of S&W Long for $68 in 2021.

.32 revolver ammo has been hard to find lately. I stumbled upon a fellow at my gun club that recently sold his .32 S&W target pistol and had a bunch of Fiocchi .32 S&W wadcutter he no longer needed. $5/ box of 50. I took all 650 rounds off of his hands for $65 .

Recently traded a bunch of 9mm for Federal .32 H&R mag. Trade ratio was 50:20, but I bought the 9mm so long ago, I still came out ahead.

I have only found two boxes of .32 H&R mag in stores in the last 10 months....

The other day I traded a Box (25) of 00B and a box of .380 for 2 boxes of .38 Spec. We both got what we wanted and both are happy. Larry

That’s the way to do it, .32 S&WL has been dried up on shelves locally for almost a year around here.

That’s all the counts. Most all the shotgun shells are dried up on shelves. Going rate on a box of 25 game loads at the gun show yesterday was $15.
Occasionally Wolf 00B shows up on store shelves $13-$14 for a box of 10.
Never thought I’d see the day growing up in the 70’s and 80’s that we’d have to rely on the Russian’s supplying the American citizens with ammo.

Here a box of .380 FMJ is $65.00 the last I checked. A box (25) of 00Buck runs about $50.00. Maybe should make a run to your area and buy what we can.

That’s insane. I just wonder if ammo actually sells for these ridiculous prices or not.

Not to me they are selling ammo at those prices. Some people do pay that much, some don't. Watched a guy pay $90.00 for a box of 500 Federal .22 LR (Blue bulk box). The local gun shop is one of the few places in the county with ammo, so they price accordingly.

Now I believe that. Was at the gun show yesterday every brick, 500 type bulk pack was $100 on every table.

I was amazed to find 32 S&W Long RN on the shelf in Gander Mtn about 6-8 months ago when there was virtually no other pistol ammo there at all at the time. It was about $25-30/box of 50 and I bought one just in case. To be truthful, I shoot almost all reloads in my 32s these days since I have a good supply of components and shooting any of the nearly irreplaceable factory stuff just hurts my feelings!

Most of us understand not shooting at tin cans but if somebody is beating on our heads we want to start shooting. If a person doesn't have any ammo a box at any price is a bargain. Larry

I just checked the prices at a place here in NC. 00B 5rds. $6.99, slugs 5rds. $7.49. Multiply by 5 and add tax and shipping and it gets expensive. .38Spec. is $69.99. They don't have .380 but the last they had was $80.00. I check their inventory on line at least once a week and they are selling. Larry

During the last shortage I found a box of 32-20 the same way. I have a 32-20. That's the reason I like multiple calibers and want too know what will shoot if push comes too shove and I can't get the correct caliber. Larry
