Talking I gave away an ammo can of .30-06 ammo

I gave away a military ammo can full of .30-06 ammo to the first person that contacted me.

No, I have no more to give away.

I was given two untouched ammo cans of ‘06 ball ammo some years ago along with a Dillon 550 and a bunch of reloading components from a friend who was getting out of shooting. I’ve used enough of the ball ammo to sight in my heinz garand and shoot a match. Pays to be a good guy. Maybe the op was looking to get some positive karma.

Now watch the recipient complain that the shipping was too slow or that the one of the rounds was a dud!

It was WWII military ammo in bandoliers still in the Army issue military tin. I wanted to give it to someone with a M-1 Garand that could really enjoy the experience.

Yes, the gentleman was very happy to get the ammo still in the bandoliers. He baked me a loaf of bread that my wife and I enjoyed very much!

Here are some pics of what everything looked like but not of the actual gear I had.

Why? Because, I wanted to do something nice for someone. Like when I gave my only grandson that has interest in hunting my Remington Model 7600 rifle in .35 Whelen because he wanted to take up Black Bear hunting in Pennsylvania where Black Bears can run well over 500lbs. and the 7600 in .35 Whelen is one of the best bear rifles for the conditions under which he would be hunting. The shots would rarely be over a hundred yards and with the right loads the .35 Whelen will leave the best blood trail if one is needed without going to magnum cartridges. When my grandson wanted to learn guitar I bought him a nice one and he learned to play. When he wanted to learn traditional archery like me; I bought him his first bow. I believe in passing the "tradition" and the passion on when I can to others. My wife and I have spent our life's savings on doctors just staying alive and now live just on social security but that does not mean we can't do nice things for people when we can. I was able to buy my Apex S&W 625 because I sold some of my other guns I could no longer use to afford it. We are selling off our belongings downsizing because we have to now live in a one bedroom apartment as we can no longer afford a house. But we still have each other but the doctors are not sure how much longer my wife has to live. I'm not sure what I will do when I face that bridge but keep putting one foot in front of the other. Life is short and getting shorter so why not try to do good to others?

Why not?

Sometimes just giving something away is it's own reward. Cast your bread upon the waters and all that.

I bought two cans of that HXP to feed the M 1 about the time it became available. Not giving that away, they can have it when I don't need it anymore.

One of my neighbors was a WWII vet who came home to a 40 something year career with nearby Camp Shelby and the National Guard. He passed away when I first moved here. I bought my land to build on from his widow. She called me over to her house one day saying she had some stuff she wanted to give me. They had an old dairy barn behind their house converted to storage. She let me and my son go through there and pick up stuff we wanted. There was several thousand rounds of 30-06, .45 ACP, and 30 carbine ammo still sealed in cans. I'm still shooting some of this stuff and haven't had a single misfire. Also in the barn were some helmets, WWII web gear, a few bayonets, and a 1918 LF&C trench knife still in the metal sheath. She liked to gamble but at 82 years old at the time she didn't like to drive to Gulfport. I took her to the casino for the day to show thanks for the loot. She won over $2,000.00. She passed away at 92 a few years ago about a week after her last casino trip.
