Default Check out Precision One....

Check out Precision One Ammunition in Mt. Pleasant, SC. They seem to be keeping up with demand. They say they are about 10 days on orders and seem to have stuff in stock in their storefront.

They make new and remanufactured ammo. Many years ago they started out with a Dillon in their house but now they have a factory with modern full scale machinery. They don't make everything, but the they do concentrate on the popular stuff.

Report back here if yea or nay on satisfaction.

I purchased 500 rounds of 45 ACP from them a few weeks back. Fed Ex destroyed the package and it never arrived. Precision One was no help in getting a refund from Fed Ex, and I'm still out $377.00 as of now.

Muddyboot, did you use a credit card for the purchase? I have found that the credit card companies are very good about reversing charges for items that never arrived. What a pain in the backside, good luck.

That's some lousy luck.

Does anyone have any experience shooting this ammo? I've not heard of them before.

Default In the early days......

When he was doing his work at home by himself there were problems with consistency. Since he's got an industrial operation now the ammo is fine.

The question is will he be able to compete with the big boys when he is trying to match their pricing after the panic is over? This is the optimum time to launch a new ammo concern. The demand is off the charts...............

Default He's been at it....

For more than a few years now and is pretty well established. What I liked was that besides having some ammo in stock, the prices didn't look over-inlflated.

Yes, I have fired 1,000+ rounds of Precision One .38 SPL 125 gr. flat nose FMJ remanufactured (mixed brass, some nickel cases) through a Model 686, and .44 SPL 200 gr flat nose FMJ (new Starline brass) through a Model 29. IIRC there were maybe 3 or 4 FTF due to dead primers. Good bulk ammo, well constructed, consistent, accurate (enough for steel matches), clean, not smoky. Guns clean up easily. Very pleased, highly recommended.

After three weeks of no communications from Precision One, and a filed claimed against FED EX, I received a tracking number from Fed EX, and the ammo was delivered three day's later.

It stinks that Fed Ex or Precision One could not be bothered to communicate with me as to what was going on.

I have been eyeing that company for a quite awhile. Their website has changed. They previously mentioned a coating on their bullets, I believe some type of polymer. I have previously posted here about it and inquired if anyone had any experience with their products and also if the coating would result in barrel fouling. No one had used their products or could say yea or nay on polymer type coatings.

With 44 magnum essentially unavailable or when it is available it is upwards of $3 per round on non-premium ammunition I am going to order some rounds from them.

I've seldom fired anything but my handloaded ammo in handguns and rifles for about the last fifty years or so and am not familiar with any of the smaller commercial shops. Three or four duds in a thousand is quite a bit if you're sure the problem is ammo related. You mention specifically "dead" primers. Are you sure on this? Not doubting your statement, I've just never heard of "dead" primers. Could this be a gun problem instead? If it isn't, then that doesn't sound like real good ammo.

rockquarry - Poor choice of words on my part, sorry. I don't know why those rounds failed to fire. I put them aside some time ago and will have a closer look.

Good luck in your investigation - sometimes it's hard to tell if it's ammo or gun.

I bought some of there 380 ammo after Ammo Quest (Shooting the bull) did a review a few years ago. I think he rated it #1 for expansion & penetration in Gel compared to the others he tested. It's basically just loaded with an XTP bullet.

It works in my LCP and that's what I carry in it. It wouldn't cycle my Glock 42 (not hot enough) and I went with Remington Golden Sabre in that.
