Another Ammo at Walmart Report

Cabelas you say?
Blazer Aluminum 45 ACP? 50 Rounds?
$49.95 here.

I would get some of the Federal AutoMatch. Best ammo for a model 18. Chambers and shoots great.

I check the ammo aisle if I am in that area of WM just to see if the shelves are getting anything. Everything I use WM quit stocking. The local Cabela' and Gun Shops are getting some stock for months all they had was 40 S&W and trap shotgun shells.

I picked up two boxes of Magtech 44 special, I normally don't shoot Magtech or 44 special but it will make a loud noise and a hole in the target, in addition I won't be using my 44 magnum ammo.

The $40 WW Super-X is a limited Retro package. On the high side for 300 rounds, but I bought one to hang on to since I like the box. The $21 Federal Auto Match 325 is plenty reasonable in this market. My Walmart had plenty of both, two boxes of .270 and some white box 223, but is still out of everything else.

I haven't seen a single round of .22 at any of the local Walmarts near me since early 2020.

Last time I was in a WM store, all they carried were shotshells, nothing else.

Our local wally world has been getting ammo in fairly regularly. Since they went to a 3 box limit there is more of it staying around for people to have a chance at buying. I work there part time in the evenings and some of the local shooters come in often to see if anything comes in that they want. The limits on how many they can buy have at least stopped the flippers from grabbing it all up before anyone else can get anything. Though I hear rumors that a couple stores in nearby towns are ignoring it and selling all their ammo to a local gun shop, one at least always seem to have the same ammo that just hit our store on the shelf if I stop in there.............. Strange, but it's apparently up to the store to enforce the limits.

As a couple posters mentioned the $40 Super X 300 count 22 ammo is a special 100 year commemorative box. There is a nearly identical count in a plain white box Winchester box for $21 that we have gotten fairly often. Guess which one sells out first? LOL. There have also been special packaged 12ga. and 30-06 loads come in, also priced a good bit higher than the standard packaging. Seems kind of odd to be producing these special anniversary boxes in the middle of an ammo shortage but I guess Winchester wanted to get their share of the inflated pricing and wally world isn't going to cut their margins if they can help it.

Otherwise pricing is still cheaper there than most other places but quantities still aren't back up to normal stocking levels. Too bad the PC crowd at corporate scuttled the handgun and AR ammo to make themselves feel good. They could have made a ton more money with the contracting power they have if they hadn't made that move. I never get through a shift without someone asking for either handgun or AR ammo. Some people either never got the word or they believe the continual internet rumor mill that wally world is selling it again...... Wish they would but think it's unlikely with the PC bunch in charge.

I've said it before (although I was wrong last Autumn), wait until Spring when the fishing gear takes top shelf in the sporting goods department. It won't be 2019 prices but way better than now. Patience; Example below.

I was in Walmart this morning and they had a good bit of Winchester 22 LR and WMR. Unfortunately they set a limit of one box of each type.

Only shotgun shells at Bristol TN Walmart.
Believe the 45ACP was Magtech brass 230 gr.
50 rds at 59.95 at Bass Pro. Bristol TN.

Was in our wal mart in September and all they had was 5 box premium shotgun shells no centerfire rifle ammo and wonder of wonders Federal automatch at $20 for 330 rds. Scarfed 3 boxes. Normally just empty shelves. Frank

Stopped by the Cabelas/Bass Pro in Bristol Tenn. on way to Alabama yesterday. Had lots of 9mm, 38, 40, 223, shotgun shells, no 380 or 45. Gun guy said they were unloading truck as we spoke and more ammo on it. Didn’t have time to wait. Bought some .38 (American Eagle 158 gr lrn) for $31 a box for a friend. Bought 100 round box of Herters 9mm for $33. Clerk said the Herters was house brand made in USA by Federal. High prices but they had it

I have 3 Wal-Mart stores near me and the only ammo they have, some shotgun shells. They are not even hunting shot shells and only in 20ga and 12ga, nothing in 410 which I can use.

I was at Cabela's in Hamburg, PA last week and the only ammo they had was some overpriced .223/5.56mm and 7.62X39mm ammo. They also had some 9mm FMJ ammo but that was very expensive too. Needless to say I left with only 2 boxes of Winchester 62gr green tip ammo just to test my new AR pistol with. (total of 40 rounds) That was the only ammo that was not too bad at $13.99/box. (did I really say not too bad?)

After about a 2-3 month drought, several of our local Wal-Mart stores have had ammo. .22 shells, hunting rifle and shotshell, and some of those 100 pack shotshell packs. I have a theory, I think once the nearest distribution center gets a shipment, the local stores all get some in dribs and drabs till its gone, then its another drought until the center gets another shipment. Just a theory.

I mostly buy the 100 packs for sporting clays. Can't load it cheaper, and if I'm shooting an autoloader I often end up losing the empties anyway, so I don't want to shoot good stuff.

VaTom,

Yes, Bass Pro in Bristol does have ammo, but
kinda expensive, Nothing at the Wal-Mart's
here, except shotgun shells. Got really spoiled
when they had rifle and pistol before 2020.

When Walmart was closing out center fire pistol ammo I lucked into some marked down. Last .45 ACP I bought was a 100 round box for less than $20. Also bought several boxes of .38 special at close out prices. Haven’t seen .380 or .45 on the shelf in a long time!!

Just returned from wally world. Store on Blanding blvd. in JAX just received ammo, clerk was stocking shelves when I walked by. Remington Gold 22’s , 100 rounds in plastic box….$8.50 and Fed. “ auto match” 325 rnd box for $21+. Actually had 222 rifle ammo! and lots of shotgun shells , even slugs.

Walmart here has a few boxes of 410 shells but no 20 or 12 gauge. No metallic cartridge ammo at all.

Still see bulk 22 at the Wall.
Bought some 380 at the Warehouse.
60 cents a round!
I can only afford to shoot folks who are in on the FBI Ten Most Wanted List!

On a tip, today I purchased three, 325 round boxes of Federal Auto Match .22 LR at Wal-Mart. $22. I had to go to the vehicle service area to get help. Simply amazing !!:D
