Default 1880s 38s&w safety hammerless with modern remington ammunition safe?

I recently received this 38 s&w safety hammerless no. 37342 and bought this ammo Remington Performance WheelGun Ammo 38 S&W 146 Grain Lead Round Nose

This gun is very tight and clean, timing is good. Is this gun safe to shoot with this ammunition? Thanks

It should be ok. That is not high velocity ammo. I would not shoot lots and lots in these old guns. I have a few and they do get shot on occasion. Parts are hard to find if something breaks

I'vd used that ammunition and similar for years in several top break Smith & Wesson revolvers with no apparent ill effects.

Factory .38 S&W ammo is lightly loaded just because of all those many thousands of ancient top-break revolvers remaining in firing condition today. Some reloaders (like me) hod-rod the .38 S&W to .38 Special levels, but such loads should never be used in any top-break revolver.
