Default Model 25-15 Ammo

I have been trying to confirm that I can use 45 ACP with a moon clip in my new Model 25-15.

Welcome to the Forum

Traditionally unmodified Model 25/325/625 revolvers with even numbered engineering revisions are chambered for 45 ACP while those with odd numbered engineering revisions are chambered for 45 Long Colt (there are exceptions to this rule)

With the little information you have supplied, I would presume that your revolver is chambered for the 45 Long Colt cartridge. So the answer is NO, 45 ACP in a moon clip will not chamber and fire in a Smith & Wesson revolver that left the Factory chambered in 45 Long Colt

Now it is possible to have the 45 Long Colt cylinder machined so that it is able to chamber and fire 45 ACP in a moon clip without losing the ability to fire 45 Long Colt

There are several well known gunsmiths that do this work.

You could call Mark at Pinnacle Performance. That is who I would turn to first
