I have stopped reloading some calibers due to cost to replace components. New brass for .38 spl is aprox. .20 each. and jacketed bullets are around that also. Not to mention primers if you can find them for .10 each. Looking at near .50 when you add in powder. And haz mat fees added as I cannot find local. I found new PMC ammo for 38.9 in bulk at
PMC 38 Special 132 gr FMJ Ammo For Sale - 38G - 1000 Rounds Then no wear on my reloading equipment or reloading equipment to buy.
Seems to me that one reason of the high component prices is to sell more loaded ammo. I am close enough to Powder Valley to pick up primers and bullets and save money on components and Haz Mat fees but supply has been close to zero and expensive. I still do load some of my higher stock calibers but with the price of ammo coming down and components not I just buy ammo most of the time now. Web search and Ammo Seek are what I use. The only thing is that I cannot find some calibers anywhere. Both components and loaded ammo. .44 WCF for example. Just have to fire and reload the cases I have while they last.
Still seems to me that there is an effort to reduce folks from reloading by the inflated component costs. I hope that will change soon. For now it is cheaper to buy most calibers than to reload when you add the cost of new brass.
