Everyone is selling Wolf and Brown Bear 9mm ammunition since the American ammunition is unavailable. Anyone use one or both of these brands?

I've used both as practice ammo. My pistols like the stuff pretty well, at least as well as Remington and Winchester loads. The only complaint I have heard that seems legitimate is that they are often a bit dirtier than other brands. Some say that the steel cases are tough on extractors. I don't know. I've seen some broken extractors, but only with brass cases, so I think it likely that it's either an extractor's design or a flaw in manufacturing that causes most failures, although I guess it's possible that an excessive use of steel might conceivably wear extractors faster.

These days, it sure does beat holding you index finger out, and yelling "bang"?

If it goes bang and you can find a good price, I'd buy it.
I've shot a fair bit of the Wolf 9mm in my carbine with good results. Their .223 works fine in my Mini-14. Silver Bear/Brown Bear also cycles the Mini just fine.
It does tend to be dirtier than other stuff, but the guns have to be cleaned anyways...

Before using it at your range, check their policies on it. Mine forbids Wolf and Brown Bear. Which does not touch me. I get my range ammo from www.mastercast.net. Prompt, reliable and inexpensive.

I fall into the don't and won't use it camp. Many who have used it stated it is dirty. Steel does not behave the way brass does. I'll pass.

It may be a bit dirtier but, the steel they use is very soft and won't hurt an extractor any more than brass will.

In my classes I see a lot of it shot as it is inexpensive and available. In most cases where there were extraction problems it was determined to be shooter based (weak grip) rather than ammo based. The only exceptions to this have been Glocks and not all of them have the problem but those that do seem to have it only with the Wolf ammo.
I see more extraction problems with Beller & Selliot (SP?). I think it's because of the bevel on the rim.
