Default Ammo galore

No not a James Bond character
My wife’s away so I have time to kill.
I visited a local Dunham’s and was surprised at the ammunition they had in stock.
Pretty much any caliber. Even .38 Super.
Hopefully primers and powder will follow at reasonable prices.

Our Dunhams has had more ammo, and a larger variety of ammo then even the online retailers for a long time. Probably 8 months or so. I would stop in occasionally, and the shelves were as empty as anywhere else.

One day I stopped in and the shelves were full. All calibers and flavors, and brands ever. Ball, carry, you name it and they had it. BUT, at 35% overpriced from what it could be bought for elsewhere. I even showed the manager what ball or carry 9mm could be purchased for and with delivery included and he just shook his head.

The ammo is collecting dust, and they seem to be having sales now that may be more reasonable then original prices. But their prices are still higher then it can be found elsewhere.

Components are a bit lower. I have seen primers in the 8.5-10 range, and that’s delivered. But, three hundy for 10 k delivered days are over. Eighteen to twenty dollars a pound powder are over…

But still pulling the trigger, to ignite the primer/powder mixture, to send the bullet out of the barrel with your reload is a blast.

Regards, Rick Gibbs

There is a lot more ammo showing up everywhere............. But prices have gone up and I'm not seeing any downturn in that yet. Also many calibers that seem to be lower demand are still hard to find, if they can be found at all. 38 Special seems to be limited, 38 S&W nonexistent. Of the various 32 calibers 32 ACP is showing up but the revolver rounds and the 32-20 not to be found. The same is true across the boards, high volume stuff is easy to find, anything else not so much.

As to reloading powder is appearing in greater quantities, bullets and brass are no issue in most cases but primers still seem to be a problem. And the asking prices for primers when you do find them is often insane. Hopefully things will improve over time but with the screwy economy and all the tension in the air over daily life I'm afraid it may be a while before we see any sense of normalcy return.

I see ammo everywhere as well but the prices are still damn near double what they were pre-covid.

Monkeypox to blame now?
