Last few gunshows I've been too , I've been looking thru the various milk crates of 'partial boxes' of ammo. Got lucky 3 shows in a row when someone was selling partial boxes of .41 mag. Obviously factory loads. All empties were there too. One guy asked if I wanted 'a deal'. He had 5 full boxes of Remington 210gr JSP , all boxes were torn , and styrofoam trays were crumbling , all taped together. But the ammo was good.
Don't overlook those milk crates of 'second hand ammo'!

Wise advice. That often holds for stores, as well. I have gotten a lot of good factory ammo cheap that way over the years.

Doing so may become the rule rather than the exception for a while yet!

In a heartbeat. Some guy put a partial box of .300WinMag on classifieds near me. Picked it up, 7 rounds of Winchester Supreme for $5. I don't even have a .300Mag... but I might someday!

Yes, I previously mentions that two Sundays ago I found a partial box (23) of Winchester SuperX, #4 buck, 16ga, at a flea market for $5. As my shotgun is an old Hunter Arms 16ga sxs and I use #3 or #4 buck for large pest control around the barn that was a deal for me.
Last fall I was in a small gun shop and happened to ask if they had any 20 ga buck on hand. I was looking for ammo for my daughters shotgun. He looked on the back shelf and found a sleeve that contained 10, 5 round boxes of Federal 20ga, #3 buck. The price penned on the box was $2.49 each so he must have had them a while. Obviously I took all ten boxes, should last my daughter for YEARS. The 20ga is her pest control/house defense gun.

I was at the SAR-East show this past Friday and found two boxes of OWS 8mm Nambu ammo, one full and one a partial with only five empties and 45 full rounds. Got 95 full factory rounds and five empties for $25.
I usually don't buy partial boxes if the primers look reloaded or the brass is obviously not unfired factory.

Yes indeed! The bargain shelves and boxes are my favorite part of gun shop hopping. They have all the stuff people trade in when they sell guns , or quit shooting , or sadly , when someone dies. A few shops near me have $1 and $5 bins. Got lots of ammo , brass , holsters , grips , reloading stuff and other accessories that way.
Some goood second-hand living!

Yep, I was at Wally World just today, and bought 48 rounds of 9mm for $9.97. The box and foam try were crumbled. She told me that all the pistol ammo they got in that day was all torn up.

Not to drift, but same with reloading dies. One LGS sells the dies when someone trades in a weapon. Priced at $15/set: .41 Mag, .38 Special, and .458 WIN MAG in their original boxes........... (RCBS and Lee).
