Midway is out of stock on most of the ammo I was looking at. Even if they had some in stock, I can't see paying the prices they are asking.

I have placed many ammo orders with Midway the past 3 years. I have noticed most of the popular ammo is marked "out of stock" the past 2 months which is new. I think this is a way for them to control how much one customer purchases.
I have placed my recent ammo orders with "Cheap as Dirt" which indicates what items they have in stock...no limits!

No, I have not tried that particular ammunition. My understanding is that it is Winchester's attempt to compete with Speer's popular Gold Dot based offerings. I'd expect that in the lab at least, performance is similar to the Gold Dot. You're paying a premium for the bonded construction. If it was available, which it probably isn't these days, I'd probably opt for the Gold Dot in the same price range simply because it has been out longer (and hence presumably some of the bugs worked out). That said, were I in the market for premium .38 loadings, I'd certainly be willing to give Winchester's offering a try.

Winchester PDX1 in 165gr 40 S&W is what I carry in my M&P. It appears to be a bonded version of the Black Talon/SXT/Ranger LEO load, or something very close. The pictures I have seen of the expanded bullets look like the PDX1 doesn't open with quite as sharp jacket "talons" because the lead core stays bonded to the entire jacket. They probably make a slightly smaller wound channel, but better penetration. I have only tested to make sure they cycle OK through my gun, nothing on terminal ballistics. I think they will expand really well, and being bonded, should retain almost 100% of their weight. They are expensive however. I bought mine at Bass Pro Shop for $21.99 for a 20 round box. They're definitely made more to carry and less to shoot. But, original boxes of Black Talon are selling for about $55-$65 each on gunbroker. So you're getting a deal! Seriously, Winchester makes good stuff. You can get away with one box for a revolver. I had to buy two, to fill two 15 round magazines. Ouch.
