Just a semi-stupid question about ammo for a 25-5 (45 Colt)...
I was wondering if there is any good factory ammunition that would be suitable for deer/boar size game at 25-35 yards? I believe there was an earlier thread that may have been pruned...I tried a search, but no luck, so any help or opinions would be appreciated.

The reason I'm asking is that I have a sweetheart of a 25-5 that's just begging to go deer hunting this Fall and since I'm not set up to reload (yet ), it's going to have to be factory loads for now...

Added to the mix is that my local pusher has a couple of used 629's (8 3/8 barrel & a PC Light Hunter) that would work perfectly as well...I just don't want to sell/trade the 25-5 unless I can't find any decent factory hunting ammo..
Thanks!!

Any heavy JHP by a reputable manufacturer should work well. I would probably use a heavy SWC or wadcutter myself. The nonexpanding bullet types will yield extremely deep penetration.

AH HA!! (he says, while smacking himself on the forehead) Buffalo Bore! Why didn't I think of that??

I looked 'em up and guess what?
They have exactly what I'm looking for!

Thanks for the info....I must have been having one of my "Doh?" moments....I love being a "senior citizen".

I enjoy it too Larry.
It's reassuring to know at least you can hide your own Easter eggs!

Buffalo Bore loads a "Heavy, standard pressure" 250 or 255 grain SWC. It soots well in both my 25-5's and woud by my choice for deer hunting.
