The below article appears to explain at least part of the ammo shortage. However, I believe there is a lot more to it than increased demand due to Obamaphobia or to a fear of political & economic unrest (as valid as those two reason are). There also appears to be a shortage of foreign ammo being allowed into the USA. With Clinton as secretary of state I certainly suspect she is doing all she can to prevent the importation of ammo. Since permits are required changes at an administrative could seriously impact the amount of ammo allowed into the USA.

That had absolutely no effect on the shortage of handgun ammo. Good news for the rifle guys though.
