Went to Walmart this morning. Looked almost like pre-election shelves. Plenty of Winchester White Box 9mm and 40. Also .223 and such. Still no .380. I picked up two 200 round bulk pack .223 Federals. 400 rounds for $170 out the door. Me Happy!

You're lucky. Here in the panhandle of Florida
(Destin, Fl), the local Walmart has replaced the glass ammo case with a display of bows & arrows.

Man, that's not good. And your only 100 miles down the road. I love to visit Destin. I'd rather go there than any other beach on the gulf coast in the panhandle area. I guess I don't need to plan on any ammo runs while I'm there. Maybe they don't plan on competing with the Bass Pro store?

Plenty of 9mm and .40 at the Wally in Central, SC this weekend. Winchester white box. Up a dollar from a month ago on 9mm. $20.97/100 round box.

12:00 HRS. 6-1-09' 25 miles north of Seattle (Lynnwood) ZERO pistol loads of ANY type. Counter woman claims daily shipments occur @ 16:00. Ammo may, or may not be on daily shipments. Most commonly twice per week. Not day specific.
BTW: GREAT tip on parking near the auto care area! Cuts down 3/4 of the hump getting to sporting goods counter.

Update: Went back today, another 200 round box on the shelf. Bought it too. 600 rounds of .223 in 24 hours. Not bad.

I think the answer Firehouse, may lay in the fact that more people voted the way they did out here. So now naturally, they've much more to worry about and so are buying more commensurately?

There was absolutely no .223 in stock at the local Wal-mart, except for Winchester Supreme Ballistic Silvertip at some unGodly price. The shelves remain empty of the handgun ammo people are accustomed to buying for range use. That applies to all calibers and cartridges.
Even the personal protection handgun ammo is always out of stock.
I noticed this sign and asked the person in Sporting Goods if it applied to shotgun ammo, of which there was an abundance.
He said that, as far as he's been told, it applies.

We have the same type of sign at our Wal-Mart except it says 2 boxes per caliber per day. Amazing thing is.... There is ammo there most of the time! People can't just stroll in and clean the shelves.

Speaking of WalMart ammo, a few weekends ago I went to the flea market masquerading as a gunshow in Niles, OH. Off to the far left in the corner was a woman with a single six-foot table full of ammo that would look more at home at the sporting goods counter at WalMart, given the packaging. Prices she had posted were about 100%-150% higher than those normally seen at WalMart. Sales were not at all brisk; that is, in the 4 hrs I endured the show I don't think she sold more than a couple boxes of anything. This entrepreneur was diagonally across from one of two regular bulk ammo sellers at the show, and that dealer was doing pretty much the usual sales.

Still no ammo at my local Walmarts and just posted a 6 box limit. Sporting goods manager said that if they get any ammo it's gone before 10 AM

Walmart in rural Missouri had one case of 9mm come in overnight. Gone by 7 A.M.
One case of Federal 550 bulk not on the shelf but last cartoon offered by the clerk after I got some 40 S&W 180 FMJ and a box of .357 mag 110 jhp. CCI .22 have been in regular supply.
Monday I picked up 2 40 S&W value packs and last week 3 boxs of Blazer Brass.
Recent pickups have included more .357, 1 box .38 +P and a couple of .380's
No .45 but some .44 Mag seen on the shelves.
Old stock .25 auto were gone this morning but the same 2 boxes of .357 Sig are still available.

At gun shows in middle Tenn. ammo and reloading dealers do the most business. Wal Mart
limits sales to 2 boxes a day. America voted him in now we have to live with it. Don

Here we go with the "America voted him in". Exactly Who is buying up all the ammo? Is it Obama or is it the panic driven masses?

I agree the masses are panic driven but only by what Obama has expressed in his opinions about guns. Went to my Wal-Mart yesterday and low and behold 45acp on the self bought 3 value packs and saved the rest for one of my buddies. They also had 380,9mm, and 40 S&W. Came home from work tonight and found 4000 large pistol primers on my front porch. It's been a great 24hrs.........Al

ammo at wally
walmart in south west Ohio has ammo in stock for most pistol calibers. I bought two boxes of 50 blazer brass .40 S&W for 12.99 a box. I am impressed walmart is not gouging ammo prices like some local (target ranges, $25 a box) dealers are.

I picked up my first box of .45 ACP yesterday at a SW MO WM. A 50 rd box of Remington MC for $19.97. Also a box of Remington .40 S&W 180 grain JHP for $33.97/100. First hollow points I have seen in months at WM.
Then this morning my youngest called to say he had picked up 500 MC .45 ACP at a different store, no details on price or brand. He asked what I wanted to do about the remaining 1500 on the shelf. I told him I was happy to leave them for the next shooter.

The local WM and two across the state line have had bare shelves for several months. Plenty of shotgun shells loaded with #8 shot. So, if you're planning to shoot pigeons or starlings, you're all set.
Anything else, not so much.
But I figure the lunatic fringe has to eventually run out of money or max out their credit cards soon. Then we can return to sanity.

I think it is starting to get better. The shelves at the 3 Walmarts around me, still are bare most of the time, but it appears they are getting ammo in more frequently, or at least in larger volumes. Managed to snag the last 5 boxes of 45acp for a friend a couple weeks ago. He'd been waiting since the end of March for 300 rounds on backorder from Cabelas for his brand new M&P 45--sucks to have a new gun and only 50 rounds to fire through it. I picked up an extra box of 9mm and met the 6 box max, but their must have been at least 15 boxes of 9mm WWB value packs left on the shelf. Sure it didn't last the day, but haven't seen that volumn in a long time. Funny that the ammo was at the highest priced Wally World around. They were $21.97 for the 9mm, and $31.97 for the 45acp, plus our wonderful Maine tax. Whereas other Wally Worlds are $19.97 for 9mm and $21.97 for 45ac. Guess it is better and $40 for 9mm and $50 for 45acp plus shipping on Gunbroker.

I shop the Wm's in Bozeman & Billings Montana. They are empty of handgun ammo. They have tons of shotgun shell and some oddball rifle ammo. Also haven't seen the .22 Value packs in a long time. Chop

Today I went to a Wal-Mart about 15 miles west of Chicago. They had a couple of 50 rd. boxes of S&W .40 Cal, one box Sig .357, and a couple of boxes or .25 cal and .32 cal. None of the following: .45acp. .38spl, .357mag, 9mm, .380, .44mag, 41mag, .223, 308. They had a good supply of Shotgun Shells and odd ball rifle calibers. I bought the one remaining 550 rd. value Pack of Federal .22 Longs. I would have bought 2 boxes if they had them. I think the ammo was $13.99 with out tax.

Several WWs Within 50 miles, I've bought 100rnd 40s, 9mm, and 50rnd Rem 230 ball. Passed on 110gr .357, and can't seem to catch .38s, but was told they had them and I was too slow.

Rural Missouri Wal-Mart had first box of Remington 100 pack of 230 JHP .45 ACP for $38.97. Also one box 50 Remington 230 MC for $19.97. (wonder why the JHP was a penny cheaper per round?)
Picked up one box of 9MM Blazer Brass for $9.47. Also in stock was one box of Blazer Brass .40 for $12.97, Remington and Winchester .44 mag, some .357 Sig and .25 auto.

Nearly all WM around me have .44s
I live in east Texas near Texarkana, and nearly all WMs within 50 miles have Rem, or WW .44mag 50 rnd JSP in stock. Approx $33.00.
No .38spl to be had, although the counter people say periodically, they do get some. I guess I'm just too slow.

I walk by the Wally ammo counter about 10 times a week. At my WM (east side of KCMO) the shelves are mostly bare of pistol ammo. Have picked up .45 ACP, .44 mag, and 9 mm all WWB in the past 2-3 months, but it's pretty scarce. I waited an hour after spotting some one day and it was all gone when I went back. But they seemed to have received a bunch of Federal .22 LR lately. I picked up the limit of 6 boxes. With discount, $13.01 OTD for a 550 round value pack.

Stopped at a wal-mart today, after a Doctor's appt.
Surprised!
They had 5 boxes of Winchester 100rd .45acp 230gr
on the shelf.
Another customer and I shared.
He purchased two boxes and I bought the other three boxes.
The counter person, said it was nice to sell to two individuals vs the ones that come in with bluetooth headsets and call all their family members and friends in the store to come over to buy-out what stock they see that day.
A good day!

Local WM near Scranton, PA is hit and miss. Going in on Wednesday mornings seems to yield best results. I now have enough 9mm and this past Wednesday got another 200 rounds of Federal Value Packs.
