I have had my 617 for about 3 months so far all I have fed it is federal bulk pack and cci blazer has done fine with both

Winchester Power Point has been my standard 617 cartridge for years but they are getting more expensive every day(what isn't?)but I keep hearing good reports on Federal American Eagle for a less expensive plinking round, think I'll try it and save the PP for hunting.

Based on the forum feedback I stopped at Walmart and picked up some Federal bulk packs. Weapon is still in transit. Hopefully next weekend I be plinking away the Federal cartridges.

Wow, a 125gr +P .22! That's gotta be a fancy bullet! I'd like to see some pics of that!

Federal 550 bulk pack/wal mart....zero leading.

Buy a box of as many types of ammo as you can find.
Fire 12 rounds from a benchrest, at 25 yards, into a real target. This will tell you volumes about what your revolver prefers.
I have a Model 17 made in the early 1990s. It shoots best with:
Federal Classic 40 gr. solid
Federal Gold Medal 40 gr. solid.
Both put 12 rounds into a circle 2 inches in diameter.
CCI High Velocity Blazer was all over the target, giving 4 inch groups at best.
More than any other caliber, .22 rimfires are persnickety, whether they are handguns or rifles.
What works for your revoler may not work in another's revolver. You just have to try a variety and see what works best.
Write the brand and make on each target, after you've fired 12 rounds, and keep those targets. It will refresh your memory for years, and become an invaluable reference.
Don't forget to put your gun's make, model and serial number on each target. If you later buy an identical model, the serial number will keep things straight.

If you need top accuracy, one of your choices to try must be SK Jagd Match. It is sold here under that name and under the Wolf Match Extra brand.

Usually you do not find them at local sporting goods stores and have to order from smallbore rifle competition retailers like Champion's Choice or Champion Shooters Supply or online ammo houses like Midway and Graf's.

That stuff is more expensive than your bulk packs but if you need accuracy and your gun like it, it will deliver.
