I can buy a chunk of Wolf 40S&W from a friend for chump change. I've fired thousands of rounds of Wolf 7.62x39 and have found it good enough, but dirty. How is Wolf handgun ammo?

Dirty but functional.

I've shot a few boxes of their .45ACP in my 1911. It goes bang.

FWIW, it's banned at the S&W range.

I've fired plenty of it with no trouble. You will hear several here that don't like it for whatever reason but I've never had any problems with it personally.

I've seen it stick inside the chamber of an XD, an M&P, and a Kimber.
Other guns have shot it fine.
If it once sticks in your gun, it's telling you something.

It will be a little hard on your extractor, but if that does not bother you and you don't mind cleaning afterwards, why not? When you pull the trigger it goes bang.

I happily shoot it in my ComBloc guns. I don't shoot it in my other guns. I have watched a few friends develop malfs due to the lacquered chambers and have assisted a friend in rectifying such a problem.

Just a quick FYI on Wolf .22LR ammo. It is high quality stuff, made for Wolf in Germany by SK Jagd. It used to be a bargain, but now that serious target shooters all know, the price is the same as other high quality stuff.
A brick of match Target is about $45., and Match Extra is $60. The olympic level stuff is $100. a brick, about the same as Eley Tenex.

Wolf has quit using lacquer on the cases. They are now polymer coated and work much better. I used to have problems with the old stuff but since Wolf changed I haven't had any.

I'd try running it if polymer coated. But even if lacquered, it'd be comforting to have around. Especially if you have a gun(s) with chamber dimensions that run to the large end of the spectrum, and don't let them get too hot?
But I think the days of overheating barrels with sustained fire of "cheap" ammo, have gone the way of the Dodo!

If its so good why is your friend selling it for chump change?
The only thing I have heard is that the coating will shellac your chamber if you shoot it hot, and the primer cup are harder than all others and may tend to create broken/worn firing pins. I do not shoot it. I do have 500 rounds of Wolfe
.40 for SHTF
Probably because he needed money. I baked 150+ rounds today. Good stuff overall. Like Wolf 7.62x39, the stuff has a weird odor.

Good range ammo, over the years we have shot thousands of rounds in subguns.Found it more than acceptable in local IDPA matches.
